Cubase, different Speed for single Parts

Hi Guys,
I'm working a lot in Cubase since a few Weeks. What's the best method to create different parts each and every with it's own speed. For example:
I got a song with about 175 BPM but I want some slower Bass parts.
How do I do that in Cubase?

choose the tempo track and draw tempo automation

or create samples in our desired tempo..save them to audio , and put them into your session without musical mode on..
