- turn of plugins you're not editing leaving only the fx and synths from channels you're listening. also turn the ones you don't need (like turn off fx so CPU is low while you're composing and mix the track after).
- bounce what you're not editing. i tend to mix the groove stuff (Bassline, Kick and other percrusion) with all synths+fx turned off, bounce it to wav and then i mix the synths with the wav file.
- use group channels ! a reverb per channel is too heavy.

i have a P3 1000mhz 384mb sdr ram and i have finished a track which i think is pretty good

i believe a very important issue is the polyphony of each intrument, probably you know about it already... if you can set it on each vsti, for example i remember when using reason that every instrument opened was seted by default , i guess to 8 voices of polyphony, and naturally it's not everytime you need them, and they are consuming, the same happens with vstis, if youhave the option to configure it, set it just to what is necessary

check your latency FaceHead, if its too low it will for sure start making funny noises, stutter etc. remember, any latency up till 24 ms is ok, you wont notice it...

getting some extra ram could also help, as wel as bouncing tracks with instruments that eat a lot of cpu, just check them separately

good luck

to make things easy you could try a recorder plugin like tapeit from silverspike or recorder from voxengo. google them their both free.

or you could try this plugin: (not so free)

mind that this works only if you got more than one computer

that's what we're talking about. Try to get hold of the manual for your sequencer.

"so there is a way to convert your midi with effects into and audio file within the project???" Just solo the channel you want, set up your markers to the start and end of your midi sequence and then "export audio mixdown". There is also a setting that will create a new audio track and bring the newly recorded audio right into your project. Also another tip is to set up send FX this will save you loads of CPU. FaceHead PM me if you need any more help. Peace
