Hi all,
Been having this annoying issue in cubase latley: I got a violin track that I time stretch and cut to fit.
Some time after editing, the track just distorts itself!
you can see it here: http://youtu.be/dc-gV_jjwPU (WARNING - HIGH VOLUME, LOWER YOUR HEADPHONES\SPEAKERS)
What i've tried:
1. copying audio to a new channel
2. removing all inserts and EQs.
3. Bouncing the audio.
as u can see, the audio bounces with the left track distorted.
Only different thing I've done recently is bought the Focusrtie 4/2i...
Does anyone know why this happens?
PLease help
thanks.

what Bit rate you working ?
44
48
88 ?
try to change buffer size
Focusrtie and komplet audio 6 is the worst audio interface's which got this stupid problem
they good only for listing Music and not make Music
i got both audio interface's before and i drop them from my windows because off this distorts cracking noise
this interfaces good only with 44 / 48 bit rate and buffer size/samples 512 / 1024
just change it to 44bit and buffer 512 or 1024

Try analog Vsti like Diva and you will see why i said that
you will hair noise cracking and this happen not only with Diva.
yes you can make a music with them but it's sucks this cracking noise killing.
in my opinion before you wasting money on new hardware batter to save the money and buy one good interface and don't worry about this stupid noise or sound problems.

"Analog VSTi"
I actually own a KA6 and I say it's a good little beast - well, like everything it has it's limits, but man it can handle Diva on my setup with no problems what-so-ever
Even with 96KHz selected, and 32 samples of process buffer (1ms USB - so everything at it's bare minimum) it can play without a hassle.. Maybe there might be other issues like the actual PC setup, you should try lowering the DSP latency and get everything tight and fast, while discarding all unnecessary services and stuff.
But, the soundcard only interferes while actually playing / listening / recording, so if you render the tune to audio these issues will disappear - and if they don't (which from the issue description seems like the problem), then it might be some other problem..
In that case, I can't think of a reason why this is happening, other than a software error or something fishy happening while changing the sample rate of the tune, in some matter.. but, you could try using another software to stretch the sample, so when you load it up in cubase it would already be in the exact time you need it -> so the DAW won't actually have to process anything on the track exept for the mixer parameters.
Also, what happens if you don't "stretch and cut to fit"? does it sound good? While cutting, did you make sure everything was zero-crossed (or what ever it's called - that the sample starts and ends on 0, to prevent clipping)?

knocz you're using FL studio right?
if yes this audio interface works great on FL stupid with any buffer size and Rate bit
But i found when you using Ab 9/Cubse/logic pro it's got this problem with the noise cracking
i will find right now the KA6 and plug it and i will show you
what a problem plus i show a video how to fix this cracking noises on Cubase to help this guy

thanks for the answers..
Before stretching it sounds ok, however, it also sounds ok after stretching.. It becomes distorted only after some time.
Im working on 44, will try changing buffer size..
WHat I did for now is stretch it, export it and import it manually rather than bounce it. sounds good for now, hopefully it wont happen again. |

hey smoker i want some of what your smoking with your 44.100Bitdepth and analog vstis !! wtf it must be really good..
i highly doubt the gear you listed as "not worth shit" is really so....
Focusrite & NI soundcards are respected for a reason, or several.
I have used both and i think they kick ass, cheap also.
i had an old crappy ESI rackmount soundcard that did all kinds of weird freezing/scrambling/stuttering, but it had tons of ins & outs.. so it was PERFECT for some uses peace

No, sorry, I abandoned Fl Studio years ago.. I'm talking about Ableton Live 8 and 9.. And the AL9 is actually the 64bit version
And, for what it's worth, I'm still using a core 2 duo on my production PC (but @2.53GHz
each core ) with only 4 Gb of ram -> so it's really not a super tanky machine that can handle everything I can throw at it, just an (under) ordinary PC by now
And btw, its really important to tune the performance of your computer, because for sure you have a bunch of odd services and devices messing up with the responsiveness of your pc Try your best in getting you dpc latency all the way down to under 20 nano seconds, and you'll see that any DAW can handle these soundcards in a breeze (And, some services and devices like WiFi and you APCI battery controller can just spike up the latencies up to real-second values, degrading all of your system's response Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz |
