i dont remember in cubase how its done exaclty but yes you can by using different midi tracks and midi channels.
for example first track midi channel 1, second track midi channel 2 ect and you set on batterie the coressponding midi channel for the pad, it s on omni by default.

YES i am
it lives from a reputation build over 20 years when there wasnt big competition, it still works based on his primitive linear sequencing...
if you check how the new generation sequencers are apearing like Sonar X1, Bitwing or Studio One, you will realise that all the thing about cubase today is just HYPE
in fact, cubase doesnt have anything that other daw doesnt offer as good or better, in terms of midi relations is a complete joke compared to its competition
i known that many snobish cubase users enjoy alot to pretend they are pro´s because they use such hyped aplication...
but let me dissapoint you, its way overrated and outdated today...

i just dont believe cubase is a hype..
if there is any hype i would say its ableton and i dont mean anything bad with that.
compared to ableton, bitwig and also maybe the more similar daw, cubase is a bit outdated..
but i dont feel limited in cubase.

dont get me wrong, i am not saying that cubase is rubish
the fact i tell is a hype, doesnt mean the aplication sucks, its pretty professional, its industry standart, its very solid as aplication
but in terms of what it have to offer as inovation and flexibility compared to modern sequencers its pretty primitive
if you compare the media bay with any other browser inside DAWs, you will notice that cubase media bay its a nightmare, slow as hell, not functional...
if you compare automations... cubase automations are pre-historical, you dont have advanced tools to control them...
many cubase users in-fact use to make jokes about flstudio, but flstudio automations are just ridiculously superior to cubase in a scale of 1-1000, its like other dimention, not to even mention the hability to integrate them with clips more easly...
the midi editor in cubase it have the most slow work-flow from all the daw´s i ever seen... you need to select every tool instead of having predefined the essencial ones
i could stay here all day giving you arguments why cubase is hype...
but remember that doesnt mean it suck, its pretty solid like i said, its better than some other daw´s to use with studio hardware stuff and thats all...
but other da´ws are every day more efficient in terms of external tools integration and due to that, its easy today to anyone to leave cubase behind and migrate to studio one, sonar X1, Reaper... etc etc

if you want to talk 'how your favourite daw is better than cubase', please, better go find some forum for kids. nobody wants another senseless offtopic. no one is forcing you to use cubase. let us live!
artists like Sensient or Noisia use cubase and make great music. if they were using YOUR favorite DAW, they to do better?
your missing the hole point...
and your examples or artists that use cubase as argument to make tell its great are ridiculous...
there are much better artists than the ones you mentioned using cubase
but that... doesnt mean cubase its the best aplication
do you known why experienced producers use cubase??? DO YOU WANA KNOWN???
because they are experient, they didnt started making music yesterday, they started 20/15 years ago...
and that means what??? that in the time they starte to produce, they had cubase and few others...
wich means that they only use cubase today, not because cubase its the best, but because they are familiar with the aplication
i tell you the same, its pretty easy this days for any cubase user migrate to other aplication... and everyone who migrates feels the same, « WOOO, what i have been missing, my work-flow is now much faster»
and NO, i am not being childish, just telling you a truth, its a hype

I think another one daw debate makes no sense...
The point is to have a daw that works for you...even this daw is completly unknown.
...into the wild....

there ya go, thats a fine and normal argument, i wouldnt dare to discuss your tast...
but the problem is, that in your previous post, you made a tipical cubase user argument
when you said:
« artists like Sensient or Noisia use cubase »
and this is exacly the kind of argument that it feed the hype and give me reasons to claim cubase its only as good as others and its overrated by the most people
*i never said that cubase sucked, i never said people shouldnt use cubase, i only claim its overrated
you may agree or not, but for me its overrated, end of story
sorry for off-topic

steinberg was one of the worst daw software companies imo..never lisetning to their users and their daw lacking features that are just good sense (how many years to implement more flexible routing ..crazy) but now it seems better with yamaha .
still think it s a great daw since first time used..
