cubase and samples?

hey, i used to work with fl.. and it was very easy to use samples: i could choose any sample i want from the browser with just 1 click+drag (or listen with only 1 click)
and the fact you could place the samples (drums for example) on a piano roll, controlling the timing and pitch was very convenient...
is there a way to duplicate this to cubase with some vst or someting?
i know i could rewire fl..but i was wondering if there's an easier way?

FL's piano roll is the main reason I still use FL over any other daw I don't know if you can do that in cubase sry           Free album out now:

on the voice tab in groove agent you got coarse and fine tuning^^

transpose how you like it.. or use multisamples..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

i think you need a sampler for for complex work with samples. FL have onboard good simple sampler. the greatest sin of steinberg is no simple sampler onboard

for drums battery 3 is good sampler, or kontakt 5 for everyhting.
in some daw you may find more feature like this, but some third parties plugins often beat what is integrated with daw in term of sound quality imo

i even do not understand why they don`t give us halion onboard..really sucks imo

but well, i almost never use any samples at all so..

what i like about using samples or self recorded audio is the offline rendering of fx..that can be good fun!          -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

thanks pom, i gave battery a go
looks nice but it still doesnt do what i wanted..
what i like is treating each drum sample like a vst - have a track for each sample, and add inserts on each drum separately..i could do this with 5-6 battery instances..but wont it be a bit heavy?

you can assign each cell to a different channel.(you got 12channels or so)

activate the channel in the vst instrument tab(https://www.steinberg.net/uploads/RTEmagicC_c4_vstirack_outputs_EN.png.png), then route the cell to the correct channel in battery.
in default there all routed to the master channel.

hope this is understandable.

yeah u can use one instance of battery for 16 outpout and midi tracks, using different midi chanel , or you could just use one midi track and route 16 out as a other example .
maybe check the manual its probably welll explained or on youtube

yeyeye battery for drums & kontakt for every kind of samples.
but booth are very complex. im looking for long time for simple sampler like fl native one or ableton simpler (Live native) but i found only veeeery simple samplers with shitty non-user friendly gui.

tip: in cubase you can use beat designer (fl style of programming)

thanks alot guys, ill try that routing thing..see if it's what i need

edit - i got it to work, it's nice, but is there a way to have a midi track for each cell? so i can control pitch with piano roll and not just have a few cells for each drum on different pitches.
(not have 1 midi track with each key being a diff. drum)
