Hello

I have this little cubase problem. I know how to snap in Cubase. I would like to know how I snap the end of a peace to the cursor or something, somtimes it is usefull if I use reversed crashes before a break or something.

Thanks

Get your sound clip and zoom right in on it (I think there is a default key-command to do this, <alt>-s) When you select the sample you should see a vertical line with a little box with an 's' in it half-way down it, somewhere in the sample. This is the 'snap point', and you use it to position the sample at musically significant places. If you quantise the sample, the whole sample moves so that the snap point is at the nearest quantise point.

So (assuming the sample is trimmed exactly how you want it, with no silence at the end) what you want to do is drag the snap point right to the end of the sample. You might need to zoom RIGHT in to the end of the sample to get it exact because it doesn't always end up at the very end. Once the snap point is at the correct position within the sample, you can turn snap on ('j') and the end of the sample will snap to whatever the grid is set to.

If you subsequently decide you want to move the snap point again, you'll discover that you can't see it any more, since the snap-point handle (the little box with the 's' in it) is off the end of the sample. Simply position the song pointer somewhere inside the sample, select the sample, right click and go to 'Audio'->'Set snap point to cursor' and you'll move the snap point to a place where you can grab it with the mouse.

An alternative way is to cut the region in the arrange view, bounce it, reverse it and use snap to events. I don't remember the little details, but I hope you know what I'm talking about.
