The best DAW is the one you know how to use. It could be Cubase, Ableton or whatever...

and yes usually cubase updates within the same 'version' were free, WTF is that?          http://darkelf.gr

this is the very first update from 4 that I find interesting all others after 4 was jut nice.. to me.
I work often on the latest versons, just at home I stick to 4 now this one is really something special for me. Like groundbreakng ^^
Logic crashes was too often and way more often than cubase, this is a fact that I really disklike.Pro Tools crashes almost never.
All have their own specialities on many territories.Period.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

most crash in C5 and logic come from third party plugins bugs for me , i find both are stable on snow leopard ,renoise is very stable too, i don't use it much but it never crash. and to me 4 was one of the worst cubase.. it was basically a beta for c5, they fixed it in the last updates

exactly. 4 was big disappointment, but 5 is nice =)

about c5 and logic i share the same opinion, they're both stable under snow leopard, and 3rd party plug-ins are the ones to make it crash...

Are you sirious ?After sx 3 came Prolouge, Mystic and those fantastic spectral synths..... they are truely unique... and the next was nothing that revolutionizing this sequancer only pain in the ass media bays and stuff that rather went on my nerves and those few plug ins, I can easyli ressist using them.
But not on synths like Prolouge or Mystic. For some sort of sounds.

what came after was nothing really special to me.. I know all versions very well. I stick to this that I really need. Just now... this version with Padshop is again a really heavy version imo The other plug ins are nice but you can survive without them without padhop it will be hard. Thats why I say this version is after a few really a remarkable one.

Renoise yeah never crashed here too. On logic I gut only legit stuff it still shots donw way too often, espescially it gets on my nerves since most often I just design sounds and hate it when being deep in sculpture and this mofo just breaks down.Im really angry then sometimes. the Only plugs here on logic I got are albino 3, diva beta and phoscyon and the tal stff which is just nice ahhh and ace. Donnu somehow it crashes .           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

hmmm i was speaking more of cubase as a program, the engine, the environment etc.

i have hard synths mostly, about plugs i use more FX's

cubase 4 was super buggy to me

You mean VB1 is crap?

Only 75% of psytrance have that bass.

That was back in 2005 I don't think that nowadays a lot of artist use VB1

@ Domi: Nope I don't work for free. I just want to say that the 0.5 updates are necessary and should be for free. Cubase 4 for example was super bugy and became a little better after the update which was for free. I don't know how Cubase 6 is working, I'm still on 5.5 and happy with it I just don't understand why bringing an update with bug fixes but mainly new instruments Fx etc... and charging $50 where it actually should be for bug fixes.
