hey all, ive just recently started using cubase 5 and im experiencing some problems with the sound performance, the sound seems to cut off or cackle for some reason, im guessing its my soundcard. Im currently using a PC 2.2 GHz, 2GB ram running, GBs of harddisk space at a 32 bit operating system and stock soundcard (dont even kno the brand). any recommendations for reasonably priced soundcards compatible with cubase 5? and if its not an issue with the soundcard any idea what it is? and also im planning on getting me a midi keyboard, does it come built in with a soundcard by anychance? thx for all the help in advance BOOM! |

the issue goes to soundcard indeed. internal soundcards dont support ASIO protocol out of the box (on the hardware level), which is needed to run Cubase (and any other host on PC) properly. you have 2 options - buy a new capable sound card (which i guess starts from $40-50) or get and install ASIO4ALL driver (free, google it)
something tells me you are ow going to google.com
after you find and install the driver open C5, go to Devices -> Device Setup --> VST Audio System and check ASIO driver menu on the right.- Choose ASIO for ALL driver and it will work fine.
PS Other than ASIO4ALL C4 and C5 offers to use its own software-based driver GENERIC ASIO DRIVER or smth like that.
