I didn't see any official hulabaloo about it, but did they improve the Sound Engine in Cubase 5?
If finally upgraded from 3 to 5 and everything sounds... different for the better. It seems like a lot of my channels in SX3 were "maxed" at 0.0 dB but still seemed much quieter than other channels and I ended up putting multiband compressors on everything to compensate, and now opening those old tracks in 5 I don't have to do that on a bunch of tracks.
Ideas? Comments? Or were there changes in SX4 that I missed since I skipped that version?
Also, I skipped 4 entirely, where there cool improvements that I'm missing out that I haven't found yet? Haven't gotten around to RTFMing yet...

not a real engine update, but they updated most of the plugins to vst3 and they sound much better that the direct x ones..
in cubas 4.1 they finally included sidechain
and free routing, so no worries anymore about deleting a fx channel and so on..even direct recording from other channels..
cubase 5 actualy got some more plugins than in cubase 4 and this melodyne thing..
vst expression is nice on acoustic sounds triggert via midi, can give a real played feeling..
and batch export in cubase 5 ..
thats all i remember now..
cheers

Yeah I read the readme for the v5 changes but wasn't sure what I missed in 4.
Saw the new v5 plugins, most of it seems to be beat-loop mashup stuff, meh... Steinberg really needs to step up on the proprietary SYNTHS, after all these years the main thing you hear from Logic fans is they can never give up ES1, ES2 etc.
Now my main gripe is continued lagging on Access' part on NO VIRUS TI 64 bit drivers. But that's for another thread...
