cubase 5 importing audio file problem?

hi,
when i import an audio file it automatically stretches it to project tempo and as i am importing a speech sample the results are not nice

.ive tried altering settings in prefrences e.t.c but with no luck.any ideas??

its possible that it has some tempo info in the wave file thus cubase stretch it to fit...

If this is what is happening, you can get rid of the tempo information by loading the file into Sound Forge, doing 'Save As' with the original filename (so it overwrites the original file) but unticking the "Include metadata in file" option.

in cubase, double click the imported clip, that opens cubase's audio editor window, there is an orange button on the upper panel (in the middle of it) that switches musical mode on and off. turn it off.
