hi guys,

i don´t know much about the underlying processes of audio rendering in cubase, but i open my sx3 projects in cubase 4 that i just got my hands on (sometimes beeing a student helps you really) and i find the sound more clear and distinct. is that me wanting to hear a difference or does it actually sound different, and in my eyes a lot better?

anybody got the same effect?

Nice that the edu version is 100% the same as the original, even at the control center it doesn't say anything about being a educational licence

Anyway I would never buy\use software that requires a dongle to work!

C4 got a complete new Audio Engine,so it should sounds better..cannot compare..switched from logic.

i don`t see the problem with the dongle..i rather pay for an educational version and got the benefits of updates and support..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Dongles just suck and are unstable! Even the "cracked" version worked better! thats why i would never use a software that requieres a dongle, better buy sonar or live

i don`t know if there is a cracked version of cubase 4 and i even cannot imagine that...but do you really think its a problem with the dongle that cubase 4 isn`t that stable as live or cracked sx3?so i don`t know but i got no crashes with c4 just some asio peaks from time to time..but thats not the problem with the dongle..even live crashes sometimes..but i think its more a problem with specific third party plugins..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

No. cubase 4 audio engine is exactly the same as sx3, the only difference is with the vst3.

But you can put the studio eq on the mixer EQ instead of the basic eq from sx3, so the change in sound can be here

Maybe someone they trusted in was telling them shit too... if the audio engine is the same, any differences you hear will most likely be in your own mind.

Here's a quote from the C4 FAQ on the English Cubase forum (www.cubase.net):

No, Cubase 4 is handling audio in the same established way Cubase SX 3 does. (Only if you consider VST3 as a part of the "audio engine" you could say it has been changed in the broadest sense of the word. Either way the quality of audio processing is not affected at all).
