hey kitnam, cubase 4 comes with the old mighty (hehe..) generic controller ;-)) no midi learn from the host side.
here is info about sonar's midi learn capability (ACT):

steinberg hv authorized dealers in a lotta countries ,,,, so i suggest u search for your authorized dealer to , in switzerland or wherever it is tht you are ,, u need to prove tht your a currently a student involved in some sort of an audio engineering related course ,,, n they'll crack it down to half the price

Just about every music shop in Japan has both the regular and the student versions of Cubase in stock. Also my first version of Cubase a few years ago was a student version which I bought in the US. I think it is safe to say that the student discount doesn't just apply to Germans.
Also, at least in the US and Japan, you don't have to be in an audio course, you just have to be a registered student (or teacher) of a school studying any topic and you can get the discount.
