I don't think so. That was one of the major reasons I choose Cakewalk many years ago. It follows the Windows standards (CTRL-drag is copy etc). I find it generaly intuitive. The guys at Cakewalk seem to have a very good feel on how to write a very usable application with good ergonomics and workflow.
Just check out these videos as they give a pretty good idea of how these guys think about workflow: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D8C1A732CFD41C88
Oh and check the last one to see who has the best coders and, importantly, the best developement partners.

There's lots of sequencers that "better" than Cubase/Logic/Protools on to many levels. But who needs all this?
Some people can write better tunes on Fruity or Reason than other people with the sequencers mentioned above.
The best sequencer for you is the one YOU know inside-out on the most intuitive levels.

C3PO: I agree with using what works for you. But I also think that people should be aware of the alternatives to make an informed decision.
I have a feeling that alot of people dissmiss Sonar out of hand for some unknown reason. Alot of people seem to think it is is some second grade small product with very limited functionality made by people that don't have much of a clue.
The reality is that there are more than a million copies of Sonar sold and that Cakewalk have gotten the attention of the industry giants like Microsoft and Intel. They get developement platforms and alot of support from these guys. Not bad for one of the few independant DAW makers left.
Another thing is that despite the fact that Cakewalk has a huge customer base, they havn't lost site of what is important: Their customers. The guy that started Cakewalk and is owner and CEO even comes on to the forum from time to time to explain their policy and stuff like that. The same goes for the Marketing director, the Engineering director etc. These guys will often just help a user and clarify stuff for the whole user base. THAT is customer service. Not to mention that they treat their customers with respect and didn't go down the whole dongle route.
If anything is proof that warez paranoia, customer distrust and misallocated resources on copy protection is a waste of time is the fact that Sonar has more than a million sales. It also means that the product is cheaper!!!
Don't get me wrong. Cubase has some very nice features and the MediaBay/SoundFrame stuff looks really cool.

undertow: you seem to be the sonar expert here as you have used it a long time, and i'd like to ask you about something, maybe you know! i haven't found out about it yet:
is it possible now to bounce/export multiple tracks (without mixing them). something that is still missing in the new cubase version. what about sonar 6? there was a question about this some time ago, but it wasn't solved i think. soloing and separately exporting is just silly
thanks and have a nice weekend,

and another question, what about external instruments (> internal control surface) and effects (> use them directly in e.g inserts, with latency compensation)?
thanks for any clarification and have a nice weekend!

You can render multiple tracks to multiple files in Cubase fairly easily. I'm about to walk out the door to work at the moment though so I'll have to check how again when I get home later.

Why do I have to sort through a page of Sonar discussion just to read about SX4? Are people that contentious/religious about their DAWs that they can't even stand to see a thread for a DAW they don't use without posting comparisons? If people wanna compare the two, they can research them independently, no need to threadjack.

Jikkenteki, thanks for your post
in my environment (as well as a friend's one) this only exports an xml file plus the media folder which contains single samples (the one's used in the track, e.g. a bassdrum) but not rendered audio tracks (e.g. whole 8 bars of bassdrums).
if it behaved otherwise on your system, you're lucky. here i conclude that it is to export a track + the used samples in order to reimport them using the xml file telling track settings, and sample positions.

ok, does cubase 4 support an intuitive MIDI-LEARN without this stupid matrix?
if i buy cubase 4 and i have to make 10 mouseclicks until i can influence one parameter with my extern controller i will throw it right away out of the window.
undertow. your words are pretty interesting about sonar, i think i should install the demo-cd laying around somewhere here in the dust. could you answer me please how midi-learn is organized there and how you feel about the generall worklfow (which is soooooo important) thank you!
