Acidkills - first the bad news - NO WAIT !! THERE ISNT ANY :)

MEAP IS EXCELLENT !!

It flawlessly exported all my files (audio, vsts, effects).

Also i managed to get them all into Ableton with a bit of tinkering so its all good

MEAP Set up as follows :

In the "Main Options" tab

Select the correct Audio Application Series (so for you it will be Cubase 3/ Nuendo 3)

"Locator Selection" should be set to "Separate Parts"
If you have multiple parts on each track this exports each part as its own wave file.

Use the "use stop track" feature and in the "stop track name" select the name of the last track in your project. This stops MEAP after it exports the final track.

Leave Get track names from set to "Project Tracks".

Use any file path you wish.

Under the Advanced Options Tab :

Leave "Key Sends Delays" as it is, same with "Locator Nose/Tail"

Only tick the following boxes in the sections below :

Remove Empty Tracks
Create Track List Log
End Screen Shot
File Name + Part Position (check transport time display)

And thats it for MEAP !!

Its pretty easy to use and there are loads of other features i haven`t tried yet, but those work so i will leave it at that.

Now for what i changed/set-up in ableton to resolve timing issues, pretty easy really, just followed Psilocybians advice and some other advice i was give from another forum.

I opened Ableton and set tempo to match that of Cubase.
I then went into options>preferences
The first tab i checked was audio, where i changed the driver error compensation so that the "overall latency" was at 0.
I then went into the "record, warp, launch" tab.
changed the "loop warp short samples" to "unwarped one shot"
I also turned off the "auto-warp long samples"
Default warp mode is set to "beats"

And that was it for the software.

When MEAP finishes it gives you a .txt file with names of files and where they are in the track, the file nameing convention is as follows :

for bass it was :
bass_pt01_bx81_01_01_000.wav

SO this tells me that the wave file for the bassline has to be put into Ableton on Bar 81.01.01.

And thats it, now i have my complete track in Ableton, all synced nice

All i need to do now is follow Tom Cosms methods to get everything all cut up and in the session view and i am ready to rock n roll.

ok i hope this helps you out, oh btw i bought the MEAP so it is very stable, the other verions arent.

If you really want me to i can make a video tutorial tomorrow for all this but there is loads on the site http://www.meap.biz/

you need to make sure you read at least the first part of the manual before doing this as there are a few settings in cubase you need to sort out, AND the new version, when you buy it, comes with the key commands file thats required for the script to run effectively.

I own MEAP as well but Cubase 5 is coming out soon and will take care of everything I've used MEAP for thus far. So unfortunately (for MEAP) I'll be retiring it soon.

For those not upgrading though, MEAP is an excellent alternative.           ~Airyck~

psylevation : Yes ur right, but Cubase 5 Bulk export has the following restrictions ;

There are no options for locator settings. So all your files will be the same size from Left to Right locator, no matter what is on the track.
There is no option to export the individual parts from each track.
There are no advanced or custom file name settings.
There is no way to export marker sections.
There is no way to make a log file containing your export info.
There is no way to automatically save your project and shut down your DAW when the export is finished.

I did research this before i paid for MEAP - and found Cubase 5 batch export to be no where near as in depth as MEAP : You can check out the video on Cubase 5 batch export using this link :

Looks like Steinberg are on the right track for sure but they will neeed to do a lot more work with Batch export to come anywhere close to competing with MEAP.
