Hi Doodes,
Anyone here use these 2 together? and if so how do you import your audio from Cubase into Ableton? I am getting all kinds of problems with this, everything out of time, distorted etc.
I think Ableton is miscalculating the tempo etc due to the fact that some of my audio files have a lot of empty space in them.
DO i need to bounce each individual sfx, stab etc then import that into ableton (god i hope not).
Isnt there a way you can just select the whole song in cubase, bounce each individual track as a complete song length ample and drop it into Ableton without it screwing up the tempo?
Is there a way to record straight from cubase into live using rewire or is it only, as i fear, the other way round?
Many thanks,
Mark

yeah i thought you where going to show me that video, there is nothing in it about transfering from cubase, he says "it doesnt matter what app you use, cubase logic etc" but he doesnt show you how to do anything or explain anything, its all done in Ableton.
thanks anyway, looks like i will need to rely on MEAP !
cheers

this is how i do it ...
i export seperatly :
Kick
Bass
Synths
Perc
FX
so for example ... i solo all synths ... and just export
thats what he basicly does in ableton
and then you just cut it up in ableton

Yo i tried that but ableton screws up all the timing, do u mean, for instance, if you have a synt hline on var 20-28 ONLY for the whole track u cut those 8 bars only, import that to ableton and then line it up with your track in there?

i export ALL synths in one wav i warp the imported wav in ableton, and then i cut it up in loops ...
if the synth doesnt start on the first note in the bar then its a litle bit harder to warp i corectly my work around is, i just export the synths with a shooort hh on the first note so i have a visual start of the bar and i just turn the volume down on the hh in ableton
one more tip ... when you import wavs in ableton make shure that the bpm in ableton matches the bpm of your track

Im sure reason can be rewired, well than Ableton must have that feature.. Plus that, last night I just read about it and got interested, and I think its in the manual, that rewireing.. Check the abletons manual, search for rewire.. If u cant manage it than Ill find it, np.. Also post here the results, as I said Im interested to.. I quit using cubase but now I lack some of its features so..
Check this, its possible even with SX 2..

OK now we settled that but now I want to know how to turn it other way around, for Live to be master? Since this way u cant have vsts in live.. http://www.myspace.com/djacidkills

ok i checked the manual, Ableton can be a master or slave but it needs the other device to be able to be a slave for when its in master mode, the big hitters cant be in SLAVE mode - Cubase, Logic, Pro-tools, DP etc.
So it looks like its MEAP for me until Steinberg sort out their Batch Convertion in Cubase 5.
I will let you know how the files transfer into ableton when i have done a complete track conversion using MEAP into Ableton.

Acidkills - Yeah i have seen that tutorial, thats just setting up normal REWIRE, thats fine, Cubase of all gens from when REWIRE was invented can do that, but its all one way.
You can only pass audio from Ableton to Cubase, NOT the other way round as explained above.
I will get back to you regarding MEAP and if it does the job, and it looks like it might
