99% times software hackers are informally authorized by software company due to promotional reasons. do you really belive h2o warez etc etc could exist without a non explict connetion with the software company? software reverse engineer it is not so easy especially with complex applications like audio and video ones. you can find cracks from avid to cubase and much much more. why does h2o want to bullshit us? they always write in the readme file to buy original software. it is quite similar to mp3 stuff: there is strong underworld business...

If these H2O guys are really so good, let them program a free sequencer.

They are good indeed. But cracking is something different then programming something new.            Signature

Come on. If you think it is like this, then please explain me why Steinberg is not publishing any demo versions anymore?
This is an urban legend, nothing more.

Respect for H2O guys too
they've done it once they'll do it again..

Well, you may be happy about that now but when there is no Cubase anymore one day because Steinberg is bankrupt, you will stop smiling.

hacked software is the unofficial demo version. why distribute a demo limited software edition ( trial version ) when it is so easy to find an hacked one?

easy to find a hacked one? it took nearly a year until the sx3 crack was released. and it would be easy for Steinberg to release a demo without limitations that runs for 3 weeks or so...

IA:you already answered to your question:
it took nearly a year until the sx3 crack was released.
can we imagine why?
->It is called crackers and not hackers
I was talkin' about Decompiling and Disassembling Software.

"Hacking" has not only come to mean unauthorized system intrusion. you can hack hardware ( ps2 xBox sunServers etc etc ) you can hack software too. "Since Hacking is the process of making a computer program work better..." this is strictly POV. It depends totally on ones definition of "better". If I'm a software vendor that includes some copy protection in my code, and a hacker circumvents this, then from my POV the software isn't working better at all. In fact I'd say that most hacks rarely meet this definition from the POV of the software's original author.
->2.h2o really cracked it for so long because it was hard to crack. don't think so: a good dev team can do it in few days with the right informations. for sure h2o aren't from Steinberg group.

yes, that's the point i believe in, too. i think that h2o at first tried to crack the protection and after a while didn't manage to do that. after that they discovered just a new way to do their job.
you remeber 'The Hackers' movie? The scene where main heroes sitting in the cybercafe or something and talking about gibsons protection.

- Maybe. But, if I were gonna hack some heavy metal, I'd, uh, work my way back through some low security, and try the back door.

i think h2o did something like that. when they realized that they couldn't hack the dongle h2o, at last, made their own one =)
