This has happen too many times, but I believe that I have learned my lession now. I am obsessed by Ctrl+S these days and I press it whenever I make something new by habit...
It is quite funny to analyze a "habit caused by work" like this one, because if I am doing something else like writing a document for example, I am pushing Ctrl+S like a maniac after every two sentences... Haha!

I believe cubase has an option of autosave...
As for me, CTRL+S = Select current soloed objects
Saving should be only done with File - > Save...

Hehe, I actually edited a major part of a track once... Then selected 'No' when Cubase asked if I wanted to save before I closed the program. I actually thought I did save already.
But yes, Cubase do have an autosave option

with me it became a refex, i do ctrl-S so many times these days it's not natural... But it's a automatism... Every time i change something my left hand automatically does the ctrl-S move |

There's also <ctrl>-<alt>-S which saves a version with a new name (eg. "myshittrack-01.cpr"); I use this more than <ctrl>-S. It's great for keeping track of how the track develops and for keeping old versions in case you need to roll-back certain aspects of the track.

Word... I tend to save a new version anytime I make a major change... That way I can go back and fix something if I did something too dumb.

ya im like orange more of a save as nut think about it you cant undo when you open so its good to go back to an old version if the one you opened doesnt sound right I know my ears play tricks on me so i like going to old versions to make sure it sounds good. |

That's never happened to me...? Some of my tracks have over 70 backup versions, all numbered nice and sequentially.
