I'm really trying to come up with this sound that alien project and many use and drives me carazy , is the main synth lead in that song or at least the most notorious.,i kinda made it with subtractor but still missing something,besides i'm trying to stop using reason. i hope some one can really help me, i use mostly , discovery, vanguard,synth 1 etc.. well good luck to all and thanks in advance |

If you're trying to stop using Reason, I guess you're working with another sequencer? In that case, why not just rewire Reason into you're new sequencer, and use it as a soft synth?

I use cubase but i really dont like to rewire reason, i dont like too mcuh the sound of reason, so i'd rather use cubase only, use morlty vnguard and discovery and im getting closed to that sound but still not getting it. |

I want to learn how to make this sound aswell. But, I think the sound probably is made by some synthesizer and then processed through an effect, not only the synthesizer... |

Try to use in Cubase,synth like Arturia's MINIMOOG V or RgcAudio's PENTAGON I ,
they are SUBTRACTIVE synths ,like SUBTRACTOR from REASON .
I hope it will be usefull. |

i heard it ... and know that there is definately an envelope on the pitch .... also the filter is tracking the keyboard ... this type of sound can be easily made with the vanguard ... |

Fou sure.
There is a main pitch lfo'd sound with a panning delay,and one more,shorter,stretched in a way,playing a higher tone.
Man what do u mean by tracking the keyboard? |

just had a listen to that, quite a common psy sound.
you could use a medium speed lfo on the pitch of a detuned sawtooth for that (making sure it retriggers with every note), but for more control i would suggest using an envelope on the pitch (attack turned halfway up). play around with the attack time to get longer/shorter "squelches". that should get you something similiar to that. |
