curious about what harmonic exciter do you use?

sometimes it can ruins some tunes imo, with artifical highs , when it s too obvious, sound cool for 2 weeks but you can end regret it for years. in some artha tunes for example it s sound extremely excited, saturated in the highs i find it irrirating after it maybe a matter of taste.. but it sound too much unatural for me ,fatiguing and a bit cheap, exciters or everyhtin that can sound a bit similar (could be tape/tube saturation, some colored hardware high end boost like on some avalon or the combined effect of all that and more) are dangerous !

the izotope ozone 4.

well you are right, the hard part is the mixing before.
some sounds need special treatment, to not sound harsh later. but you always can go back and highshelf/cut the disturbing freqs.
for example the sound @5:30 i realy had to cut the high freqs, because the exciter pushed them extremly.

i do not say its the right method, but i come close to a OK mastering imo. if you think its to much, you always can take less excitement, its a matter of taste...

however this changes the supersaws also to a more polished clearer sound.

in this track i used it:

yeah agree wwith the mixing before and when used carrefuly, it s not tools to make what sound crap sound gold, or it does just for a little time with the WOW effect but working on the source is always best solution imo , we can t polish a turd they say...

i m listening on crap headphone but even in your tune it bother me.. might be just my taste,i find it sound artifical and irritating, more digital .i can t really tell on the headphone but it remind me the highs when i clip my converters way too much for loudness , in the end it s matter of taste .. maybe soon ppl will love distortion (or they do already) and we will see tracks at -5 rms lol some guys already told me that on pa they like more their tunes saturated in the low by limiters than clean lol

i listened on monitors just to be sure , too much artifical for my taste.. but if you like it i respect it s all about taste imo it s ta little too obvious it make it a little irritating a bit unatural.

mastering engeiners have better tools to make your sound polished than ozone , if you send your mix like this it may won t leave much room for the ME to use his tools for giving a more expensive pro sound

yeah sure... its just the best result ive got.
for mastering i send the untouched wave file.

but for now im fine with it, it gives a little idea/preview of mastering.          www.soundcloud.com/orgytime

it sound good man ,on some leads i like , i dont want to mean it sound bad, but i find their is something unplesant,it don t sound expensive, high end ,there is a cheap quality to it a bit like it vail the sound ,might be just me...i m sure many like it like that.. i dont have much experience with ozone saturators but i remember i find it too sound a bit digital, harsh in the highs .
have you tried something like soundtoys decapitator ? but not on the master just on the sounds you want in the tune, it might give you better result, more analogish, more depth and separation.. if you try it send low level into it, less than -10/-12 db peak or even lower, sound better imo.

there is also sonnox inflator on it.
i hear what you mean (cheap harshness) and that was
clear xD you know i first squeeze all highs with the compressor too. it creates a "high carpet" after pushing it with ozone.
its not super, but closer to what i want to sound like.

ill check out the soundtoys stuff.
i tested such a thing 2 years ago and didnt hear any difference, so i never used it. maybe with the new speakers i hear any performance lol.

thanks for the infos!

sure you will hear it ,it s not really subbtle btw your sound improved a lot ,i was listening Orgytime - Skyride i find this one sound better and it s produced better than so many tack released,i find there is still some stuff that could be balanced a bit better but with a good master it should be great ..sound like the solo was a good choice man i find the cms65 already good the solo might be really great would love to try to mix on them, focal ftw
imo you lack bottom end, low end drive ,that would make you rebalance the mids highs a little you would end up with a bigger sound

thanks for the kind words PoM,
what you mean by low end drive?, boosting the sub freqs ?(about 100Hz downwards)
i did no eqing on the baseline at all xD

but dont overrate them, skyride was also mixed on the solos...
i guess its just knowledge what lead to a nicer sound in this case, also the ideas where much better imo.

let me know when youre in austria one day, you can try the solos then xD

i heard the solo already and went for the adam p22 insteed but now that i got the cms 65 it made me curious to really try the solo and/or the twins,if the price difference is justified they might be good but i dont really need them with the p22 that have great mids and highs and work well with the sub in my room, it s just curiosity.
