nothing to do with psytrance, but if you pass through Tennessee you should stop at Old Stone Fort its an old Native American fort that the settlers took over, but it is beautiful and it has some of the best waters to swim in surrounding it.

if you are driving go throug south dakota its the most beautiful state. then keep going west and eventually over the mountains into oregon and go down the coast to san francisco that way you can catch the giant redwoods as well. but youll pass through so many beautiful areas be careful going over the mountains in wyoming at night time though i found myself alone at 4am in a white out blizzard at 15,000 feet

simply gorgeous

If you get a chance, see the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, all the amazing national parks in Utah, Arizona, Yellowstone in Wyoming, the mountain pass from Bend to Eugene, Oregon that goes through the black basalt site of an ancient volcanic eruption, Mt. Shasta in Cali, really there's too much stuff to list.

The Rocky Mountains and the West are pretty spectacular, no matter where you are.

i think if you need info about particular cities, just start a topic about that city, otherwise you'll get a lot of random stuff like this.

i highly recomend taking a route that has you travel on I-70 across Colorado and Utah. Much more stuff to look at along that route than taking I-80 or I-40.
Stop off in Moab Utah and visit Arches National Park.

Just breathtaking and inspiring

i-70 has it's plusses but then you have to go through kansas, one of the worst states of all time. 40 is killer thru NM and AZ, and you can take some nice routes northward towards las vegas or the awesome NP's near by (which are also off 70). 40 crosses thru texas and oklahoma, although i don't consider the two combined nearly as bad as kansas, believe it or not.

make sure you don't speed while yr in "the blob"... i've seen people get pulled over for going 71 in a 70 in kansas. and those cops out there seem to have some uncanny ability to smell even the most minute amount of THC-containing materials.

Kansas has Garden of Eden.. in Lucas, off I-70. Def. worth a detour. I'll take Kansas over Nebraska any day. New Mexico isn't that exciting either, until you get to the mountains. in either case, you'll have to cover about 800 miles of flat farmland or flat desert or flat nothing until you get to the good stuff. My favorite route from NYC is to go through the hills of West Virginia and Kentucky (I-64 I think) and then jump on I-70 before St. Louis.

If you go through Des Moines there is an amazing free art center with some worldclass artwork. Andy Goldsworthy has a permament installation there part of his 3 cairns projects - very awe inspring. They have some great exhibits now too.

yeah Dimitri hit on the best route....IMO

Im an OTR truck driver by trade, I know them hiways and biways preety good

W. Va, and Kentucky on I64 is gorgeous, one of my favorite drives in the country. It does link up with I70 near STL, and while the drive thru Missouri isnt amazing, its got some nice sights to see as well.
Kansas is the boring one, I recomend just blowing thru it at night, but do indeed watch for the KS state troopers, they are hard asses. That'll take you into Colorado, where its remains rather flat and boring untill Denver. Then it gets really preety. I70 ends at I-15 where you can cut south and swing thru Vegas for some debauchery

If you go the southern route, Id take still the I64 to STL, and then take I-44 south to Oklahoma City and link up with I-40. Oklahoma is a rather dreary state, and on that route you get to experiance the redneck charm of Amarillo texas. New Mexico has some preety stuff, but then again to reach it you need to get off the beaten path, and in most cases make it to almost Albuequerque
and as bad as the Kansas troopers are, they are no
where near as bad as the Oklahoma troopers.
I think their are Aum stories about the Oklahoma troopers.

The fastest route would undoubtably be I80 strait across, but except for PA, and some parts of Iowa, and Utah, its a rather bleak drive untill you hit the Sierras on the CA, NV border.
