wow those pc specs are amazing!:)
550 Mhz cpu, and a 1/4 gb ram...

they got sooo much done with that little computer power (although the pc prolly was just there for sequencing)

how times have changed, and will keep changing!

Haha totally. They sure do like gear though, that's one of the longest gear lists I've seen for any trance act from that era.

Now, Bap you just have to buy all of these synths to check what is right for this lead           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

The source instrument matters less than you might think. Try an envelope follower for that 65 000 year old funk           http://soundcloud.com/seasons_end

there's some stereo effect going, it's quite stable though: would try phaser and chorus with rate turned down first, then find the sweet spots: time on chorus, center on phaser, something within those lines. could be synced oscillators detuned apart from each other, one saw for rich harmonics, one pulse wave (maybe with a touch of pwm for more alive sound). There's probably some filter envelope modulation - maybe a slight pitch mod to, using the same envelope (I do mean slight, just to byte the transient a bit and accentuate the movement, not the squelchy pitch mod). Could be that the second oscillator is tuned to 3rds or 5ths, the way this melody goes feels to me like a mono synth (or patch), legato style. Add some unisson with some pan to spread it out and you should be close, or not lol.

my 2 cents, 2 osc, detuned, phaser with center automation and set to wide, and slight chorus, made wider by a very short stereo delay, to give it the width, no fm and detuned almost 1 octave... and a bit of filter cutoff automation should do the trick... amp attack not quite to zero... try albino maybe...
