Hi to all! Just want to ask your opinion about new Creamware Virtual analog synts. 2 models - PRO-12 ASB and MINIMAX ASB, I listened just MinimaX, and I found that it sounds great, warm and clear. But what i Read in specification:
Synthesizeresizer Type: Virtual analog synthesizer
Technology: Virtual analog Circuit Modelling
Number of Voices: 12
Sampling Rate: 44.1 kHz (internal oversampling)
Resolution: 32 bit Audio Paths
Analog Outputs: 2 x 1/4 inch (6,3mm) unbalanced
Analog Inputs: 2 x 1/4 inch (6,3mm) unbalanced
MIDI: In, Out, Thru
USB: Full Speed USB rev 1.1
Power Input: 12V AC/DC, <20 W
Dimensions: 480mm wide (448mm without wood panels)
209mm deep (203mm without wood panels)
40/76mm high (front/back)
Weight: 3.4 kg
So what your point of view about this synts? |

What the phrase: "Virtual analog synthesizer" with "virtual analog circuit modeling" realy means is that it's not a synth at all. It's a good lookin' midi controler that controles a virtual synth runnin' on your PC. So it's not a synth... it's an expencive midi toy.
Maybe it sounds really good... but lot of VST synth sound also good and lot of universal midi controles can do the same job vithout looking as a virtual analog synth. Since the circuit modeling is also virtual it's kind a hard to miss that at all.
The way I see it creamware does not develop any new stuff but rather they're trying to sell whatever they can before leaving the system to die.
I would stay away from it if I ware you!
ps: the wood panels are really the only non virtual thing on this analog synth. So beside selling thin air they're wasting the forest and trying to make YOU pay for it!!! huh?
He's talking about these SYNTHS:
http://asb.creamware.com/
They are indeed virtual analog synths. Not midi controllers.
I only tried them shortly. I think they sound quite good actually but i don't feel like buying them. They feel cheap but not as badly build as the new korg stuff (MS2000 or MicroKorg). Plus the concept doesnt apeal to me. If i want a digital Minimoog i get the Minimonsta VST. If i want Prophet 5 i'll get PRO-53.

yes stay away from them. creamware is nightmare.
they dont update their drivers, dont answer emails.
creamware is making mess to the max. just visit the website and click personal page (which i did to get my serials to reinstall my scope dsp card).
a WORKING creamware system is nice but now this stuff is so outdated. (talking abt my scope card)
maybe the box you mention works fine NOW but how is it in three years when you are on a newer operating system? believe me: u dont want this.

vipal this is for you my friend
Cremware update their drivers when they update the SFP software and now its the 4.5 but its true when you say that they dont answer to emails and that their support its bad
another bad thing its that the souncards dont work with pentium double processors |

friendly reaction sonictransportsystem but....
i have the SFP 4.5 and it only works on modern single core systems when you disable acpi and then install windows. at least thats how it was for me. took me one year to find out how to overcome the total computerfreeze with the help of someone from the planetz forum which is not organized by creamware. the need of this kind of computer-tweaking simply means the drivers are not updated. i still hope to get my creamware system running. looking forward to work with flexor and other modulars but if i would have known how much trouble scope would give me i would have gone directly to the motu i have now. |

@ AvS: if I show you a virtual reality than what I've showed you is not real and doens not exist beside as an image or idea. So if the synth is virtual ('cause it's running on PC) and it has a virtual circuit board... what's left are few midi controls, wooden panels and "feeling of true analog synth with wooden panels".
ps: I also have creamware and it has a nice sound and reverb but all together it's a pain in the ass.

I speak about virtual analog, same thing like Nord lead, virus and Korg ms 2000. Not real analog like Alesis Andromeda or old Ronald Juno. Its a real iron box with tweakers and knobes, and sure it works without PC. And its not VST program. I`m not mean soundcards |

shamantrixx>> Ok i misunderstood you but you said that "it's a good lookin' midi controler that controles a virtual synth runnin' on your PC".
The synth is not running on your PC. It's in the box.
I get your point but still you do pay for kobs you can tweak and you dont need think about CPU usage plus you can easily run it trough an analog fx unit or wahtever. And most imortant IMO is that you dont need to have your pc on to play with it. |
