Hey ppl, someone knows what is the normal temperature range for AMD 1800?
I looked in AMD site but just couldn't find.
If the temperature of my CPU is 72 c, do i need to be worry?

Well, if I'm not mistaken, computers should automatically shut down when the CPU is at too high a temperature. But preformance of any processor is better at cooler temperatures.

As i know some of new AMD'z have this
"temperature problem" , and not all motherboards
have those "temperature meters" to shutdown yo computer before yo AMD going to b "al ha esh"
so maybe u need some cpu cooler to make yo cpu cool.
EZ. |

Well according to what i've seen they do HAVE temp. sensors that work well when i tried to overclock {not intentionally}.
So i don't afraid it'll burn or something like that. I am worried about the efficiency

as far as i know anything between 50-60 degrees centigrade is the normal working temperature of amd´s´. 72 is a bit too much especially for a newer athlon like the one you have, i run a 750 athlon thunderbird and it runs at 60-65 degrees
when i´m pushing it. but 72 isn´t fatal as far as i know. you should try getting a new cpu fan and also check out some pc geek pages like tomshardware.com to check about hardware questions i´m sure you will find something there |

The only good thing about the existence of AMD is that Intel does not have a monopoly so the prices stay low. A few months ago I watched a video testing how amd proccessors get blown up in conditions of extreme temperature(removal of heatsink and fan) while the intel ones was just crashing the aplicattion running, or operation system crash. Sorry i do not remember the exact link but it was on www.tomshardware.com |

gkalpakas?
is that something we should be conerned about?
AMD is a very good processor - and unfortunately Intel are still kind of a monopoly in Israel at least...

Well i am very happy i bought the AMD cpu, with the money i saved i bought more RAM and my AMD1800 according to Tomshardware.com is as good as P4 2000 with multimedia applications, so that was a pretty good choice i guess. And also got a free sticker AMD Athlon inside!

"Although we strive to maintain the accuracy of this information, The CPU Scorecard assumes no liability for costs or damages resulting from its use."
I wouldn't risk it, especially in hot country like yours during summertime. Not that your processor is will blown away or something , but I think you will experience many crashes.
By the way thanks for the link cpuscorecard.com seems like a very itneresting site.

OK.
I saw that movie too, and they're right. AMD CPUs blow up when you remove the heatsync.
But, is there any reason ever to remove the heatsync?
My AMD 1400 is working 24/7 just fine for allmost a year now, with 52C (I bought a better heatsync, costs about 150NIS, and worth it).

well because I use intel and these temperatures that you guys mention sounds very high to me.
As far as I know amd handle different higher temperatures.
I consider 55 a lot for my p4 and I am very worried during summer because Greece is hot as hell in july and my studio is not airconditioned .
Instead of a better heatsync I started thinking today for water coolers.
here is a link from a german web site where you can order complete kits.

Wicked shit !
Liquid CPU cooling
Finally it's available for PC's , as far as i know it was
used only in supercomputers like CRAY and SGI Onyx .
cool. |

there is lots of info about water colling in tomshardware, and maybe a video showing how it is done.
A friend of mine already ordered one kit from Germany to use it in his overclocked p4 1.8 to 2ghz.
Once he install it and run it I let you know more details. |
