Cosmo was great! Thanks very much!
A couple things:
We arrived at 8am and were told the festival didn't open until 12pm (despite the fact it still said 8 on the website) and it then took until almost 1 for the gates to open. The waiting was pretty annoying but the festival more than made up for it. The security guys were very cool but were obviously keeping a close eye on things at the same time, exactly perfect for a psy fest.
The Lunar Stage could have done with being a lot bigger, it was often quite difficult to get in there just due to the small size of it.
Were there any showers? We couldn't find them or anyone who knew about them.
The mainstage was excellent and the deco/lights very cool to look at, the lineup on both stages was great (Sprocket and Onkel Dunkel absolutely destroyed!) and although the weather wasn't amazing, the setting was very pleasant too.
Once again thanks very much to you guys and I will definitely be attending again next year!

Sorry about the shaky cam in a lot of it, the acid wouldn't let me stand still |

Hi everybody. This is Deviant Species, as most of you I'm in this scene for the love of music, it's hardly a get-rich-quick scheme so some degree of respect is always appreciated.
I would like to share my Cosmo Festival 2012 experience with you:
I was looking forward to preview some new tracks from my forthcoming album in the event. I set off from London for the venue with a generous time allowance of 6 hours, double the estimated to get there in time but due to unprecedented traffic jams on the M5 I was about 30 min. late for my set. At about 2/3 of my journey, approx. 3 hours before my set I contacted the organisers to let them know I was on my way and that there was a slim chance I could be delayed.
On arrival I came to the main stage but the stage manager wasn't there to let me come on and play any remaining set time. To my surprise the 3 artists playing after me were all present but were filling my slot with an extra Dj set. The organiser did not move forward any of the acts in order to maintain the integrity of the line-up.
Mohit Mamtani, the organiser asked me to hang around for another day to slot me in. The opportunity presented itself the next morning at 10am as Grouch from Zenon Rec could not play, however this slot was never offered to me.
I decided to hang out back stage where I finally met the stage manager who to my surprise was very much against me playing at all. After a chat I was able to squeeze in a 30 min. set but at that length my set made hardly any sense.
It was obvious that the organiser who had asked me to hang around an extra day had never any intentions to find me a slot.
I would like to question the true interests of the organiser for not attempting to fix this situation. The organiser advertised my name on the line-up but was not bothered whether I played, furthermore, he tried to stop me from playing, therefore failing to honour the public's right to the performance of all billed artists.
In the end the only party who benefited from this situation was the organiser as he found it justifiable to undercut my fees. |

Cosmo reply:
To Santos : Please accept our reply to your situation as it seems that it was hard for you to accept that you came late . We agree that a contact was made by you at 4:30 on the event managers phone (Paul Bacon) to inform that you are running late,he instantly advised you to contact the stage managers instead as he had nothing to do with managing stage timing.. Same has been seriously mentioned in all communication regarding set timing to all artists on 15th May 2012 which goes as following :
"Important info by the stage manager :
Be at the stage latest half hour before the set... More if you need more. It's your responsibility to be ready at the right time! just incase if you are having any troubles to arrive on time then we cannot change the schedules, so we would appreciate if you can inform us about your delays much ahead of time and we can make alternative plans to replace your performances. "
this message had the phone number of 1 of the stage managers along with it.
Being an international festival it is hard to locate artists at last minute to replace and we believe that musicians are professional in following what has been asked from the person booking them... it went out as clear message by email as well as your phone call to paul bacon.. which is hardly an advance notice coming just 2 hours prior to your performance... Why would you expect to have another artists penalised and cut short their set due to someone arriving late.. we need to accept that you had the stage managers number but failed to inform him and instead called your friend Paul to leave a message. In either of the situation we could still not help as all changes for artists who were not gonna make the festival were already filled up before the festival began... As you stated the example of grouch not coming for his set was discovered on thursday evening and the necessary changes to the lineup to fill his slot were made by informing 2 other artists to exptend their Live Sets by 30 mins each. Now these last minute changes to someone's live set are impossible to make on such short notice, only once we locate the artists.. After speaking to artists and djs and requesting if someone was happy to cut short their performance to accomodate your performance, the artists were unhappy and we managed to get 30mins.. In this case we would have expected for you to actually feel happy that you even got to play after putting us through the hard work of finding artists and using our resopurces to requests artists to shorten their set even though it wasnt required...
You entered at the festival site at 7:30 and went staright down to the main stage and you had a word with Giuseppe who was co managing the stage.. it is quite troubling to see your reaction to expect that the organisers are to be blamed for your delays to arrive for a paid engagement and once that engagement is not met we should be professional and not sing about your unprofessional behaviourand demand for money by blackmailing us by sending emails and then posting this online for other to laugh about it as well.. We sincerely booked you for the music but after this unprofessional behaviour we are very hard pressed to see the music coming from the person behind this saga, good luck |

Mohit, it is sad to see that in order to clear your name you have to resort to inventing facts.
Paul never advised me to contact anyone else either by phone or text. I would like you to prove that.
Also I managed to play a 30 min set only because I talked to the other artists myself and they were happy to revert to their original set time. Your stage manager tried to prevent me from playing so I would like to see what 'hard work' you put yourself through.
Professional from my part was setting off 6 hours before for a trip that would normally take 3. Had I ever suspected the trip was going to take this long I would have opted out of the deal altogether. I only came to your festival to do my job and it makes no business sense traveling for any longer.
Unprofessional from your part as an organiser is being unable to solve problems as they arise. In my 15 years in the scene I cannot recall that many events without delays and changes in the line up. Even when I played for you previously, you made me go on later than billed without any warnings and I did not question it.
It is pointless of you to state your terms and conditions over and over again only to cover up for your lack of resourcefulness.
There is no excuse in saying you had asked other artists to extend their sets to cover for Grouch's absence, equally you could have asked them to play their original set and nobody would have had any problems, as I recall one of these artists was present in the caravan when you and me were trying to deal with the problem so what is all that about difficulty locating the artists.
It is very low and ridiculous of you to accuse me of blackmailing you, the amount you owe me is not worth the trouble, you know very well the issue at hand is respect.
You not only "penalised" me for being 30min late (very much against my intentions and interest), your biggest insult was to ask me to hang around for another day so you would fit me back into the lineup but had never any intentions to do so.
I warned you I would go public if you did not sort this matter privately so this was entirely your choice.
In the end it was either out of negligence or greed or both that you forgot the public is your main interest as you tried not to honour the advertised line-up.
ps "after this unprofessional behaviour we are very hard pressed to see the music coming from the person behind the saga"
interesting choice of words but has it any meaning at all?

to Deviant Species:
when you arrived behind the stage too late for your set I tryed to sort you out asking the present Djs na Lives to cut their set to give you some space. I myself told you that i would cut my set of half hour for you. I also told you that coz of the Parvati session ( 4 artists from same label in the row) was just started you could have get the slot in the end, as closing for that night....which you were not satisfied with, you wanted to play right away. So, it is not true that from stage-manager side we did not want you to play.
The only true fact here is that you arrived late: traffic or not traffic is your responsability to be there in good time in advance.......so your timing for the travel was wrong, and this you cannot blame on the organzier or stage managers.

Hi Giuseppe,
I appreciate you are trying to clear this situation particularly as you were one of the few people who showed some understanding but it is incorrect that I wanted to play straight away. I would have happily waited until the 4 of you finished but Mohit said I would need to wait until the following day to find me a slot.
I met the stage manager on Sunday only and he was very much against me playing I can confirm.
As for my delay, it seems excessive and pointless the organiser is so bent on having me accept responsibility for it, I believe I went into enough detail to explain it already.
In the big scheme of things, it would have been best to think we all had our best intentions to make the event work smoothly and focus on solving the problem.
Mohit, however did not. The artist who played one hour extra the next morning was present in the caravan with us when we are trying to deal with the problem. I have talked to this artist and he would have been ok about reverting to his original set time so I could play.
The main point I am making is that the organiser advertised me in the festival and he tried not to honour the bill when he had a chance. That goes against the public, which should be his main priority |

The only thing people need to understand is that you came late and you are whining about it. You failed the public and now you blame me. You've been ranting on several forums. This is your main priority.
