Tresspasser is the debut album from Cosmo Chaos (Alex Serkisyan) , a young promising french artist which was revealed by tracks like Landmass Vibration, Tearing Stellar or The Link with Lemurians.

Cosmo Chaos has a unique specific soundscapes environnement which main trademarks are heavy rythmic, huge kick, breakbeat , enormous bass , cyber samples atmosphere & special use of kinda laserguns for melodies. The global musical content can appear to someone as extreme or noisy, but for me it'’s just what i should call dark-cyber full on production.

First track, the shorter one & the slower one, is for me an introduction for listeners to Cosmo Chaos’s sounds, a kinda of practice in order to accomodate smoothly into his musical world & avoid all chance of straining of auditory‘s muscle.

Then I would cut the album in 2 parts : from track 2 to 5 which could be called the ‘Cosmo part’ & from 6 to 9 the Chaos part’ as a result a well construct ordonnanced tracklist.

So, in this Cosmo part, i would tell that Alex build more the cyber-cosmos atmosphere, the background harmonies.

Darken Light, says it all, indeed you’ve got kinda dark & lighten siren sounds, an electric guitar is roaring just before the appearance of muted brassy tones. It's now time for a break with a filtered beat back. The siren, the muted brass tone plus some new sharpy & shrill sounds come alltogether for the final.

The kick is louder in Neuro Modulator, the bass is also more groovy here. The Cosmo Chaos ‘laserguns’ are present but aren’t too nervous or intense in this track. Little by little the sleepy Chaos part is trying to wake up.
Just before the 5:30 break, the track is bouncy & jerky then the melody gets squeaker & squeaker.

It seems more & more evident that the Chaos part is getting closer, Adrenaline is the best proof of it.
We get a step forward into sonic madness, the background feeling is getting tensier that’s the moment when nervosity climbs area. More density, sounds are more numerous, the laserguns are startting shooting everywhere, the batlle-laserguns is accompanied by throwing up & down fx on a muted mutant synthline. If you’re normally constituted, you will feel the adrenalish push in your body during this period.

After the adrenalin push, a slight recovery with Subtile Truth opening on a sarcatic laugh (Fantomas ones alike). The track can be caracterized by a particularly droning bassline all along coppled with a quite smashing. Rythmic. Some electric riffs, gloomy synths & some shy laserguns battle happen in the background while main melodic sound is very mettallic & resonnating one.

Let’s pass to the Chaos part with Psychotic Parano Panic, a filtered intro to begin, the rythmic is sage, the climate is calm. The rythmic evolves into more breakbeat, the bass gets intensified in being playing double. All seems stll pretty calm…After a short speech from a deep & warm man voice, the rythmic changes one more time. The track bolts with a resonnating melody embellished with a flux-reflux fx on a deep background sound, some laserguns shoot are also present. Some woman incantation mark a short break, a muted brassy tone appears. A second & longer filtered break happens. The density of the track is at its paroxysm.

The bassline is rolling in Overload, the kick isn’t very far from saturation level, the rythmic gets more elements little by little. A short laserguns battle announce the acceleration of the bassline, and the electric twisted melody arrive. The laserguns shot gets naughtier & after a break the rythmic gets heavier, some industrial tones are also present from this moment, the global thing results more nervous. We have entered here the dark-cyber full on’s den.

When i saw for the first this trackname, i found it strange but funny. A weird rythmic intro, then it'’s shouting or exactly machine-gunning, i mean here it's not the usual laserguns shoots sounds. A dark vibration is growling while kicks are put in action & are soon hammering. Some nice rough edge embellish the track. A psychotic break happen whith a left alone & interogative melody. Later some very gloomy & melhancolic atmospheres arrive which are conclude by a lively melody nevertheless the gloomy & melhancolic feeling get over it on the end.

Hybrid starts with a short icy breath, the rythmic is quite extreme, it's smashing up all the way with the regularity of a clockwork. The melodic are composed of muted brassy tones & trembling industrial sythlines (nice fx here), the nervosity is at its maximum.

Highlights by order :6,4,8
Then :7,9,2,5

One major regret : the total running time of the album is only 66 minutes.

Mark: 8,5/10

Just got this album - loved his 'Ghost Inside Wired' EP on Shiva Space from 2002.

This album is a bit less crazy than the EP - his sound seems to have matured. It definitely sounds French - reminds of early 3DV style (my favorite). Some tracks are more melodic, others more on the techno side.

The music is very atmospheric, moody, and dark, with interwoven psychedelic sounds and fx. I like it a lot for listening and it would be good for DJs - almost all the tracks have dancefloor killer potential. Solid, quality release here. Check it out. Best tracks: 4, 8, 9, 5.

Hehe.. I played that EP at, like, every party for a year.
I am not sure if this is 'less crazy' - it's definitely less noisy and more power, a bit different in style, but still nice and dark and twisted. Very nice atmospheres, for sure.
cheers!

Trespasser reflects a new direction down the path of psychedelic trance that Cosmo Chaos are pioneering. Encompassed within the realm of the album are heavy rhythms, accentuated by the frequent use of breakbeat patterns, powerful basslines and staccato style cyber influenced melodies and effects that push themselves very deep into the subconscious of the listener. Overall it is a moody and dark release that demands attention of the listener and is best suited for the hours of darkness when its intensity can be exploited to the full.           if the truth can be told so as to be understood it will be believed
