What's so weird?
Goa Gil has been doing 12-24+ hour sets for a decade or so. Many commercial trance DJ's I see advertised here in Australia are doing 3-10 hour DJ sets.
Cosmo pre-records ten hours of his music, presses pay and tweaks it here n' there if at all. He gets paid a large sum and people go nuts all night to his music.
I think Psykovsky did at least a 6 hour live set here in Sydney last year. I couldn't make it but those that did said they saw him doing amazing stuff on his computer, and it was a truly enlightening experience.
If rock/metal bands can actually play instruments live for 2-3 hour sets night after night, surely a computer based music culture can double that!
I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy! |

Yes I have and he looks like every other "live" psy act IMHO, nothing special nor nothing terrible just the same as all others.
I wasn't actually having a go at him per se` but more at the idea of live trance acts.
The only truly good live electronica I've scene in the last few years were Daft Punk & Chemical Brothers.
Most others just look like geeks standing in front of a laptop *whoopee*
Ps I have been shown by a well known Aussie producer what a live act in this scene is all about, I give the muso's credit for what they do in the studio, but not really live.

djing your own music is boring.
for 10 hours? maybe for 3 but then I am sure his tracks will run out of tricks XD

Daft punk alive concert was really something. I really think it was awesome. Watched it on TV.
Mushrooms make you do crazy stuff. Look at Mario he jumps on animal heads and fights with dragons. |

It's misguiding to call what we do as "live" in the context of playing an instrument live. The debate has been going on for ages. Personally I get irritated if organizers call my "appearance" as Live - I have asked them to change it but they refuse. It's not live. It's a promotional appearance and so is it for 99.9% of all so called "live" performances.
I rather play as a DJ. It's more honest and actually "work"

Never seen him live but lots of vids... His dj/live hybrid sets are a work of art IMO. He truly puts Abelton to work!!! |
