Psy Lab
The roots of Psylab date back to 2000, when Asaro and bassist Giglio began making organic trance & funky house music, under the highly unpronounceable and esoteric name "Nikulydin". It wasn't until Asaro made the electronic plunge in 2002 that Nikulydin began to take shape as a fully electronic live effort. While Nikulydin sought to find its own experimental sound and identity, Psylab’s mission was to create a sound based on pre-established formulas for the various genres of EDM, namely:
trance (psy, progressive, goa, tribal)
techno (minimal, ambient, Detroit style)
drum’n’bass (jungle, liquid, atmospheric)
breaks (2-step, uk garage, dubstep)
house (acid, deep, tech, hard)
Psylab ultimately created their own live interpretations of these genres, the obvious difference being the live band feel created within the confines of these specified styles. Psylab also aims to popularize the obscure EDM sub-genre known as ‘Trance-step’.
Djs:
Dub Gabriel
(NYC) Dub Gabriel has become one of the top DJ/Producers in America that combines music from Africa, Middle East, India, Jamaica, Eastern Europe and South America in to a blend all of his own.
Pedro (Reality Engine, Interchill, CoSM)
Originally from Brazil, now based in NYC, Pedro plays and produces free style tribal grooves. From dub beats into deep midtempo trance, breaks and house, he fuses influences from many tribal cultures and genres to build an uplifting sonorous experience.

Live PA:
KiloWatts - Philadelphia (Artificial Music Machine / KiloWattsMusic.com)
Recently completing his 4th album, "Routes", among numerous singles and remixes, James Watts continues to create dynamic and unpredictable moods with his music. He's generally known for his complex rhythmic audio editing, sliced and diced to all hell, married to wistful melodic structure and vaporous soundscapes. His livesets are a combination of intricate programmed beats and sojourns into improvised experimental grooveology, often evolving into thick layered violet walls of sound.

Seems like a great party coming up, Pedro Right on time for my coming back to NYC from a long trip! No jet lag will make me miss this one :):)
p.s. but why is this party just till 5 am?
I don't know, but I've been told, if you keep on dancing you won't grow old. |

woohoo!
Kilowatts was AMAZING at Ka-Pow, and he's playing IN THE CHAMBER.
I'm very very excited about this.
although a bit concerned about the lack of...you know...psytrance...
but I'll be there, no doubt. |

mmm, yes, although I understand the insatiable hunger for psytrance, were I still in NY I'd be more than happy to see the Greys making their art live with music by Pedro, Kilowatts, and Dub Gabriel at the same event. Best wishes for this gathering!

the cops are giving a very hard time on that neighborhood , spirit got shut down as we know, and the other clubs on the vicinity close at 4....
btw, if you get downstairs and see a huge line, you just need to walk straight to the security people and tell them that you are going to cosm....that weird crowd is normally going to "house"....

Yes, the City is on some kind of anti-nightlife kick this year:

Taken From:

"until that day comes, the cutoff for CoSM events will likely remain 5am. Too short for a proper psytrance experience, perhaps, but psychedelic sanctuaries are few and far between in New York; compromises will have to be made."
Why not start the festivities earlier? The city can't regulate earlier beginnings. Then we'd still be getting a longer dance experience. So what if it's dark 'outside' at 5am, the light, after dancing 10-12 hours will likely be turned on for those who say that they "don't get the proper psy-trance dance experience". Is it not THAT light which is being sought, anyway?!!!! Why not rally for the earlier onset?! |

I think the main reason people don't start parties earlier is most psytrancers don't show up until around 1 or 2am no matter what time the party starts or ends. |

I wonder, is it the artist/musician/etc that sets the stage and draws in the crowd or the fans drawing in the artist/musician/etc. Well, to me its not a chicken-egg dilema. I don't ever hear of crowds gathering where no organized or ORGANIZING event is being held: gathering without a purpose. The individual purposes I will not delve into, but I believe for such events, it's largely the music. So, if you hypothetically put the "12 Best", most sought after psy-trance artists in a line-up starting at 5pm-5am , people will come at 5 pm. Well, atleast I would, hands down. Just remember "Field of Dreams!" |

that's true... if someone was willing to spend the cash to book well known artists for every slot, then more people would come early. But I seriously doubt you would draw enough people to cover all that talent... there is a reason that most psytrance parties in nyc have two or at most three headlining artists on the bill. |

An exageration it was, indeed to have 12 headliners. It wasn't meant to be taken literally. But the concept was there...The concept can be expanded upon. Things, activities, (live paintings and Chai tea, chanting, and so forth) can be going on at 5,6,7...and so forth, bringing people into the fold, early on... getting their groves on, getting pumped for a 9,10,11pm build up, midnight boom, 1,2, continum, with a 3, 4, 5 chill out.. it could happen...that's all i'm saying...a "Field of Dreams." |

If you look into the program the event begins at 8 and goes until 5...most parties go from 10 to 7, and people just arrive at 1 anyways....
on this one we encourage people to show up earlier to watch the movie and participate of the talk with Alex Grey and then get their body moving...
5 to 5 is tough.... there is actually a party next week, decom, that goes from 24 hours, but offers much more than just 12 headliners....
