Corrupted Cubase 4 file? Can I save it?

So here is the deal...
I was working on a track (lets call it "track A")and was getting a few sound issues(clicks) so I was checking sound card settings and tring out differnt AISO configurations then I lost all sound.
My sound card (fire Box) was still blue lit and fine but no audio. I restarted and called it a night, when I came back the next day now my project crashes when I try to open.
C4 opens fine no issues and will open a new project fine and runs good. Everytime I try to load "Track A" it crashes c4 at the same point in the load up(when it starts to load mixer settings) I have like 6 old vertions of this track saved and all of them crash c4 at the same point now...I am really confused on what is going on.
I tried all 3 AISO choices I have and they all crash c4. In the past I have changed my AISO in the middle of a track and it was fine.
This is my 1st track after my upgade to C4 but I have been on SX3 for years with no problems.
Is there any chance that it has to do with me loading ohmforce vst bundle and CS3?
I did have to delete some adobe download manager thing and some other random files assoiated with it in order for me to download flash 10. Anychance adobe changed somthing that this 1 track dident like?
Any help would be great.

Try deleting/uninstalling C4 and restarting the project. The project should still have all saved settings from C4 that the project uses but since it is not in your directory, it will not actually load. This should allow your project to open.

Well I re installed C4 yesterday when I was have'in issues and it still crashed.
Do I need to do something els?
After I reinstalled, all my vst folders and everything was still the same do I need to completely delete and wipe c4 and reinstall it so that all that info is reset also?

did you used freezed vsti or tracks?
if yes, go to your project folder, and check inside the folder named "freeze"
If there is one or more waves files which are 0 Ko heavy, delete them and try to open your project again. |

If this doesnt work,deinstall ,use searchfunction in c:
Search for cubase.there must be stilla cubaseexe after deinstall,
delete this

I dont have a freezed vsti and am not sure I understand what your saying.

Just try what I said before you uninstall your entire DAW.
The project should open fine if you just uninstall C4 and at most you will only have to redo what you did with C4.
1. Uninstall C4
2. Open the project and see if it works.
3. If it does, save immediately, quit Cubase, restart your PC, and try reinstalling C4.
I had a similar problem with (I think it was) Soundshifter which is another waves bundle plugin. After I was able to do something like that, the project was saved and at most I had to redo only minor stuff.
It was a while ago that that happened, but I'm almost 100% sure that's what I did.

I've had projects that don't open because of a VST that has gone crazy.
Try to remember which plugins and VSTs you used, then go to the VST folder, and rename then to .dl_ or something without .dll at the end to stop them being recognised as VSTs.
Either rename them slowly and reopen the project, or remove them all and slowly add them back in.
Something is loading that is stopping the project opening
If you can open other projects open - I don't think reinstalling C4 is a good idea, because it obviously works. It must be something that loads in the project. |

Often these problems are caused by some 'bad' VST that starts leaking memory or so but I seriously question what Steinberg has done with C4 though.
Having used SX3 for a while I went and bought C4 thinking that it would only be improvements. Instead I got a software with such severe stability problems that my production and creativity was impeded. Sometimes it would be hit and miss if a project loaded. If my ASIO was struggling I could always just fix it in SX3, in C4 most of the time it would crash not only C4 but then Windows and I'd have to restart. Some of the most common production software out there like NI Battery had huge stability issues in C4 and would sometimes go crazy exchanging all my sample pads with other samples, and when reopening the new sampler config was saved even though the project wasn't etc etc I could go on all night...
A few weeks ago I switched to Ableton and I'm so happy... still miss a few of the great Cubase functions but hey, this program uses less CPU, not a single VST issue to report yet and it doesn't crash ever (almost), and if it does it has an autorecover feature so you don't lose your work.
I think Cubase is an awesome product when it works but I don't wanna spend my precious production time resolving software problems. SX3 was way more stable so I wonder what happened..

Oh God, I feel like a dumbass.
I just realized Gypsy was talking about "C4" = "Cubase 4" and not the Waves C4 compressor plugin.
I really hope my advice didn't mess you up too bad.

I always worked with sx3 with no problem...
Give me one error loading a project, but i cant figure out how to solve it...my luck is that i have a backup file and it open with no problems, but the original, always stop
Some times is "digital errors" if we can call them that way...A stupid bug for somme reason was provocated...and then wen we try to open....the bug returns again...is like we have save the project with that bug...
In my case the backup and the original saves are equal...wen i save a project i save always two times.....the only different is the name of the save file....so...maybe the problem is not in Cubase or the VST, but in the file..the project file...corrupted

Its so weird...
Now sx3 wont open at all, I did a reinstall of both sx3 and Cubase 4 and sx3 just crashes at splash screen during initalizing the protection but my emulated driver is open and running...
It was fine before I installed ohmforce and Adobe CS3.
Cubase 4 is still ok it opens and seems fine but wont open that project still.
Im going to remove ohm vsts and CS3 and see if that works I guess.
