Does the old method of sending tapes to myself realy work? If not - what is the best and easiest way to obtain copyrights on my material? |

As far as I know, it holds - especially if u do it registered mail, so there is actually no chance of fraud. I have to say though, that I never did it with electronic music.
There are no words ( usually ) in the electro genres and well.. Non electronic stuff much easier to copy one to one.
Cheers,

I don't think it makes a difference wether it's electronic or accoustic music. Besides - I'm not worried about illegal copying - that's gonna happen anyway. I'm worried that someone might try to sell my work as his own. Imagine that - what a nightmare. |

Hey Max,
When u send a letter to yourself and in the letter is a cassette for example containing your stuff and some document that makes it clear u wrote that then, whilst the envelope is closed and there is a stamp and the most important - a DATE on the stamp, then the envelope u sent to yourself is as worthwhile as if you went to attorney and made a copyright document.
Ciao,
Yuli. |

No I don't do that...
I think that the actual midi file of the track and the possibility to use it in a specific studio is enough for ownership... Think about it - Trance trax aren't so worthwhile to start making a huge plan to get the track in it's best quality, then to hack into the producer's computer, steal the midi file, and recreate the arrangements in your own home studio to proove it's yours...
Easier to make a couple of new trax.. |
