Hi everybody
Do you copyright your music in your home country before sending out tracks to labels?

assuming you live a country which has signed the berne convention (and i'd be 99.99% sure that canada has), you dont need to *do* anything to copyright your work.
the instant you make it , the copyright is yours.
the only real issue in cases of dispute (ie somebody else rips your track and claims it is theirs), is being able to prove that you wrote it *first* . this is why some people will mail themselves the track and not open the sealed, postmarked envelope, put the track in a bank vault / lawyer / or whatever. personally i dont bother
but if u mean do i write "copyright" on it when i send it to labels - yes i do - it cant hurt to be too careful.
bear in mind the only legally valid way of declaring copyright is
"COPYRIGHT DATE YOURNAME"
DATE is the year first published.
COPYRIGHT is either the word "copyright"; the (c) symbol - but (c) itself is NOT valid, it has to be the actual symbol; or "copyr."
Belonging to your local equivalent of the PRS or Musicians Union always helps too
