he means CTRL.

Personally, I have 2 problems when copy pasting autiomation like that.

1. sometimes its painful to try to select automation points using the mouse when my automation channel is 10 pixels high in my screen. Especially after 8 hours in front of sx.

2. even if I do that correctly, the automation will offset to the left (become smaller and have wrong start) because its beggining will become the first control point of the automation. So if the first control point was lets say 1/4 of a bar after the intended beggining of my automation, then this would become the start of it shifting it 1/4 to the left. The automation curve will be the same, but not playing at the same time relatively to the audio/midi, as it was doing before. I will then have to add that point manualy on the very beggining of the automation, before copying, in order to define its correct start.

I generaly try to use keyboard more as it is faster and more aquare

What you can do to speed things up and make sure that your automation pastes properly is the following :

1. Click on the part above the automation curve you want to duplicate, to select it, or alternatively locate it using the up/down/left/right arrows of your keyboard. In case there isn't any part above the automation, you can alt+click & drag to make a temporary new one defining the desired start and end. You will delete this in the end
2. hold CTRL
3. press D once to duplicate
4. release CTRL
5. press DEL button to remove the part above the automation but keep the automation

-between steps 3 and 4 you can use the RIGHT or LEFT arrows of your keyboard to shift that part in time in case you want to move the automation somewhere else.

-this technique does not destroy parts existing after the part with the automation, as cubase makes sure that the last part is always selected and able to move above the old ones using ctrl+left/right. In the end a simple DEL hit will delete it leaving the automations below safe.

-you can dupilcate as much as you want (more D hits in step 3)

-note that with this technique you are erasing any automation existing after the automation which needs to be copied.

good luck           http://triplex.trance.net
