in my ongoing effort to optimize and eliminate noise, i have come across the issue of cooling my space.

the problem:
my appartment has extremely loud vents for cooling. i am on the tenth floor and all the heat from the apartments below rise up and keep our room at a very high tempeture, so the vents are on all the time. i'd like to find a way of cooling the room without the noise, but can only find other devices that put out noise. fans will not do, external air conditioners will not do, i cant open a window because im in the middle of a large city.... im out of ideas.

the solution:
?

have you tried covering vents with studio foam?

there's also another way, bit expensive: using - portable silent A/C's.           www.venomous2.com

im not really sure if covering them with foam would do anything. i was under the impression that studio foam dampens sounds from bouncing off walls, not block sound alltogether.

sillent airconditionings? do you have more info? i couldnt seem to find any.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

you can use studio foam for different purposes, they can let most of the air from the vents out, but technically should absorb the noize generated by airflow.

anyway about the portable A/C's, this is the link i just pulled from google:

http://adwordsregional.air-conditioners-america.com/

i would try them at local best buy store just to see how silent they really are.

i have same problem with heat in my studio.
i have already burned one motherboard and the performance i get from my computer in the winter is much higher than the one i get in the summer because of the heat.

solutions? not so many i´ve found. it becomes like a snowball the computer also acts like a heater makin the refrigerating process more than difficult.
