Can´t got the point here....

Just organize the samples wherever u want. To preview, I think almost all sequencers has the "auto play" option. To control the samples, hummm, maybe a sampler machine???           LOADING...

TeDer...
there was a thread about this before. the stupid google search cant find it, so ill just say it again.

there is a game called Worms: Armageddon and it has a sound file manager that can be used for this type of thing (maybe, its been a while and i cant remember if it does everything you want). but there is no software meant for this sort of thing.

you may want to check http://sourceforge.net maybe there is something that can be modded/hacked to do what you want.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

today, i talked with a informatic prof of my uni about the same problem, and he meant that i should make an access data bank.
if i'll have some time, i will try it, and if it works, i will post a download-link here ...
but unfortunately im quite busy

hahaha, he's right, that works perfectly (although it's quite a lot of work just to classifie samples) but i wouldn't use access, i'd use mysql/apache/php, and build a dynamic web-app front end so I can add samples to the database easily.

But really... just use windows explorer and watch where u paste your samples, if u don't paste them just anywhere and if u have a decent system of classification u don't need to classify them in a seperate program... And even if u have a program to manage your samples it's better not to throw them just anywhere on your HD...

the advantage of the classification with another tool is, that i have only one folder, where all my samples are.
with the databank tool, i can add the same sample to different classifications, without beeing forced to save my sample twice in different folders.
the other advantage is, that it doesnt matter if i change my classification system, because the path of the sample, which is used by my sequencer or sampler will always be the same.

@fregle:
you said, that you use a php/my sql system
am i right, that you have your sample libary online?

nops all local... And i said that i would use it, i didn't say i used it... It's just easier for me cuz i'm trained to use those tools... And once u got that front end running only thing u have to do is fil out the forms, and u can completely make it as u want, u don't have to use that sucky microsoft interface...

I found out that the way i had my samples organised before didn't work well at all.

While working in Cubase i find it much more convenient to use a sampler like Intakt or KoMpakt (i'm not sure which i will stick with, cause KoMpakt is multi-timbral but doesn't have a loop function - Intakt isn't multi-timbral but does have a loop function).

This way you can have loads of samples mapped out on your keyboard and can switch to a new sample map within a mouseclick, having them mapped out on your keyboard works a lot faster.

I guess its how you like to work, but having them organised in folders really slowes down my workflow - using Intakt means faster access & results! Kontakt is an option aswell, but its a bit to advanced for me. I stopped using battery cause it seems to really clog up my CPU fast.           "That's no ordinary rabbit!
