How to make a snare:

Can be done in almost any VSTi. Waldorf Attack as well.
You take one oscillator with a sine wave and make a small light kick drum. Second oscillator with noise. Now all you have to do is mess with filters and envelopes to shape it as you will. Just be sure that the sine oscillator won't get too high in the volume or else you'll get a noisy kick drum instead

try to mix a couple of snares together on different
envelopes , add some noise just like Mike said , and try
some acoustic snares with a little of 808 snare ...
anyway the snare need to match the kickdrum , so u need
to fine-tune yo snare a little .

Take a mic,
eat some beans,
start farting like crazy into the mic,
record everything,
take one fart sample,
cut it to be short,
apply some ADSR graph envelope to it,
add your choice fx,
there you have it - 'cool snares???'

Hey Flopz!

the trick with a good snare (which is mostly layerin on evry second kickdrum ) is that u dont allow them to phase with each other.

effective utillitys for this are L-cuts and compression..

for the sound..a few distortion and a tiny reverb-room..

for the groove... >> deadnotes in front and behind.

PROGRESSIVE!! yeas!

cool snares?

dont use ready samples

synthes is good but recording some unusual percusion tapings in lo-fi is even better

u can also try to "boom box" your snares

good luck and good phuk!           ***dread controls***
