Hello. Please share your favorite acid recipes. I know everything comes from high resonance and distortion but you know we all have our favorite acid sounds and ways to achieve them.

Personally as I can't afford 303 hardware clone i'm on the Phoscyon and some of its own distortion which I still don't know if I like it or not... then some quadrafuzz on top can give it some shape.

Personally I love a good slide here and there on the acidline.

Even though the standard acid sound comes from the tb303 or similar I would also call acid any squelchy sound you could achieve in other synths... as long as it effectively runs through your spine xD

Having said so, strange acid sounds can come also from pitch bending / modulation and some bitcrush... i love most of the sound that one can yield when oscillating low octave waveform through BP filter + distortion and delay / reverb.

Wanna share how u cook acid?

I like playin with the amp envelope amount and decay. Obviously high res and disto are a must plus automation on any of the parameters. Once I get my lab I'll attempt hoffman's recipe;)

what i really like it s when the sound rattle, growl ..don't know if it s the right term to describe.. i like when it from a square and suited distortion.. sometimes env mod on the filter and some time not with the fastest attack.. accent with velocity modulation on the envelops timings and amount.. legato..
that for basic acid lead and catch a bit the 303 vibe..(distortion with no harsh highs , warm and organic sound)

sync leads are great too..kind of classic goa leads ,acid or not depending if you use distortion..
the result might depend the synths..but with a nice one it can make loads of amazing psy leads..
try 1 osc set to saw and muted, 2 one to square ,synced to the first one and 1 or 2 octave higher.each time the first osc wav go postive it will force the second osc to regenearte is waveform introducing harmonics..
then from this you can make lot of good acid leads .. the osc 2 stay in tune ...envelop modulation on the freq .. fm.. distortion and you can make loads of acid goa leads

Hey Pom great comments... I remember when I first learned about synched leads... it was a timbre i was looking for a long time and confused with FM, when second osc is modulated it can get crazy!

Synch leads can get pretty acid when they scream right. I remember i got pretty nice synchs from the virusA (now sold) the nord get some nice shit too I haven't found a softsynth that "screams" in the same way or better... perhaps zebra i haven't tried that one out.

And yeah I also love any gritty / squelchy sound, high resonance slow filtering on very low octave saws can produce some very interesting growls.

Some vst distortion can fuck up this sounds I've been looking for good distortion for acid but i just keep coming back to quadrafuzz and bit crusher the only other unit that gets the job done is the UAD Moog filter's drive but I can only use one since my uad is the v1.

Acid lines made of different acid synths are nice idea too... square acid is exotique!

I still have wet dreams on the x0xb0x lol.

i m using lot of sync and ring modulation these days..things that i m rarely using with my softsynths..but cypher is good..one of the best softsynth imo , perfect for a punchy modern sound and it don t bring much muddiness into the mix , the sound is clear and detailed. dcam package is really good but the learning curve can be steep, there is lot of tricks to get good sound out of it, like sweetspots in the gain staging depending the sound after...

i find some sync leads don t like much cutoff modulation or lot of resonance , same with fm acid leads..but when it work it can sound great.
my favoritis one are still the most simple one, one osc and filter..

Acid you say?
Here's the x0xb0x

And at 2:14 acid sounds from the good ol' Roland SH-101

I've been hearing the 303 for about 20 years that I have been into electronic music. I still get blown away by it.

Peace out.
