Hi guys, by any chance does anyone knows of a software that would allow me to automatically convert all the VBR Mp3 I have on my computer to CBR ?
The reason I'd like to do this is that I own 2 CDJ-400 and they handle VBR Mp3 like shit (can't go fast-forward).
Thanks |

That will probably sound like shit (double encoding). You would be much better off re-encoding from CDs or WAVS.

Come one, I buy tons of cd, I can take a pic of them if you're still doubting
The MP3 for which I don't have is mostly free music, nothing illegal here I think |

So basically, encoding VBR to WAV and then to CBR would f*** with the audio's quality, even if I choose a high bitrate ? |

Decoding to wav from mp3 won't help the quality, and play original wave/cda files, they sound much better, i can tell
Monitoring devices, know where you go
Mass media, total control
Digital delight, desire in megabite
Data overflow, virtual suicide
This information, is disinformation
Truth is hidden, knowledge forbidden |

Yep its worth reminding folks that mp3 encoding is a form of lossy compression. Quality is lost and you won't get it back, even if you then convert it to wav or aiff or cda.
I have managed to get some life into a few mp3s by running them through an Aphex 204 (gently) and re recording them as wav.

After all certain frequencies get taken out to make the data stream less when you convert from Wav to mp3. The sound appears less loud than it really is and you will hear the difference! A reason why mp3 players screw up peoples ears...
btw. interesting approach Psytracked! Even though I doubt you would have gotten even close to the original wav, it is a good idea when you want to save an old track...

^^^ no substitute for a wav or aiff, a desperate measure with mild improvement.
....a little off topic and maybe not of that much interest to psy producers, but I have converted drum/percussion loops from wav to low bitrate real audio and mp3 for a lo-fi effect.... can work nicely.
