HiI am using a nord lead 2 with cubase sx , but I can`t figure out how to record controller settings from my n.l. into the sequencer (get it?). I mean... I want to get cubase to know how the controller settings on the n.l. are at the beginning of a song.

Has this something to do with the automation features? Please explain. Cubase responds controller tweaks from the synth when I record, but wont play it back the same way. It says in the n.l. manual that I have to send an "All Controllers Request" Sys Ex message from the sequencer in the beginning of the song. But how on earth do I do that?? I have tried like hell to figure it out.

Please help!
thanx

There is a way to add your nord lead into Cubase SX by

Going to

Devices --> Midi Device Manager
Install Device

Nord Lead (Clavia)

Yes I have done this. I simply want to know how to record a "snapshot" of all controller settings in the beginning of a song.

Anyone?

Yeah, it works with program change, but not controller tweaks. It is recorded visually in cubase, but it doesn`t play it back the same way, as if the controller tweaks are not really recorded. I have gone in almost every submenu and read a lot of instructions in both cubase and the nord lead manual, and everything should be set right. On the nord lead at least. Extremely frustrating. Still need help!

Could it be that the sound contains an LFO ?
Not synced ?
That might be the problem...

I tried out only a filter opening. and during playback nothing happened. But visually it was recorded... But at trance.nu I got this answer:

What you are looking for is the "All Controllers Request" on page 97.
What you need to do is go into your project and add another midi track and call it something like "setup".
In this track draw an event and then edit it using the list editor.
In the list editor there is a combobox labled "insert type",
pick sysex.
Then take the draw tool and draw seven events one after the other.
On the left side you will see seven messages with type: sysex, start time, and comment (this is where you enter the sysex data).
Now one by one enter all the sysex data on page 97 into each one of the seven events you have created in cubase and when you play it back it tells the nord to send all controler values.
Then all you have to do is record them.

So basicly I think this solves it. sure hope so.
If anyone have other suggestions, please post
them.

Thanks

If I understand correclty, you are recording midi events, and although they are recorded they don't do anything. I had the same problem because I changed by mistake the global midi channel. It should not be 1,2,3,4. The best thing is to have it be 16. Hope that helps.
Bulk dump is for saving the preset at the beginning of the song. It won't help you with this problem.

uiu,

since the nord is multitimbral the filter controllers shouldnt be sent to the global midi channel,,.,

barius,
i think UIU has a point,
are you making sure that you are sending the data from cubase to the right midi channel?., cubase will receive/record from any channel but when you send it back to the nord make sure it sends to the channel you have set up in your nord.,(every one of the four slots has it's own midi channel)

grts,
aka.,
