Good for them (IM), and I dont think they have sold out at all.They have progressed into the mainstream without really compromising their roots (imho of course).
2005 is the year that the commercial electronic dance music scene wakes up to the fantastic world of psy trance. I don't have a big problem with that, it has not been compromised. After all, the festivals have been great, lots of new music and I am sure next year will be the same.
I am also relieved to see Tiesto is no longer #1 (just): respect to Paul van Dyk, he is a good musician. |

simply diferent music for diferent people...but israely people are the best biznis madafakas in the world..this list represent it heh

Noone can stop evolution. Things progress, things always push forward and that's why there are psytrance acts near the top of the DJ list. This is a proof that the wider masses actually have a little clue about psytrance. They might know IM, AP or Astrix but that's as far as they can go.
And in the end, who the fuck cares what the DJ list is. That's only a popularity contest. There are far better DJ's in the world that are 'THE BEST' to their own crowd.

You have to see the DJ list for what it is - a voice of the commercial dance music world. If you read DJ mag, they never even mention psy trance (ok they gave Glade festival a mention recently ) but the psy trance scene exists outside of this, its also about mainstraim clubbing & mainly house music. |

To be very honest i find the list fine in its own context...
but as far as ratings go the base should be the same...i mean u cant compare and say this dj is more popular than the other so he gets a higher rank...well this list is simply a choice of people who voted in so its pretty much obvious who walks away with the top honours..its obviously the people who have more reach and wide popularity....and its soo sooo obvious that the majority of names on that list caters to almost 100 times more of a crowd than the psy artist names on that list...
so this cannot be called as a judgment..for all you know the majority of the people who voted in for either astrix or even infected mushroom were the people who happend to go to one of astrix's or infected parties by chance and actually had a good time coz of You Know What  ...
so its hard to make this as a prominent list...probably i wouldve admired the list more if it was a bit more specific and it was not on polls but it was on actual quality recognition.
If the list was Only on quality recognition then we would have had a lot more of our very own psy artists on that list....!

coz its a popularity contest and not a skill based ranking
as simple as that..if it were based on skill it might have been a different look to the ratings for sure..
am not at all denying the fct that some/many of the dj's on that list are good..hell no i am no one to vouch for that.......
However,i can guarantee that if it was more skill based we would have loads of familiar names out there
