So last halloween I decided that since I never ever go crazy with costumes, this year I would go completely crazy. I was slotted for a fire performance at a club in NYC (psybotik!!!) and wanted to go as Dr. Manhattan. the blue guy from watchmen.
I opted to not go for the full-nude, but definitely did want to shave my head and be completely blue..but with black samurai/thai fisherman pants.
So I spend some time looking up liquid latex...find a company, call them, ask them if I can sweat through the latex, they say yes, I say ok and order it.
Halloween arrives...and it takes literally 3 and a half hours for my girlfriend to apply this shit to me (after shaving my entire upper body and head), and it was the most uncomfortable MADDENING experience I have ever gone through. itchy beyond belief, but it worked...or so I thought.
I enter the club, try to introduce myself to friends but they have no clue who I am. I start dancing, and 15 minutes later I'm pretty friggin hot. So hot that I start sweating, and much to my dismay the latex is definitely NOT breathing....and pools of sweat are starting to form underneath my latex suit....it actually looks like im growing cancerous tumors in real time under my flesh.
I thought I could deal with it, that is until a couple of minutes later when I'm in the middle of the dance floor...and something pops. I must have been sweating in the head area pretty good, because the latex broke right at the tip of my nose and as far as I was concerned, I had just unleashed 50% of my body's supply of blood in one instant...when in fact a sweat bubble had just flushed warm water all over my body.
That was it. I ran backstage, tore it off and I was free....except now I had just spent 3+ hrs applying a costume that I had only worn for less than a half an hour (and not even for my performance)...and now I'm completely shaved (no eyebrows) wandering around the party looking like fucking voldemort.
worth it?
