after 5 years of moving my ear in different corners of the electronic room i retourned to psytrance and i was surprised to find a lot of straight produced music.

among others i bought some albums of #doofrecords#
and #dropout# , in my opinion this is a fascinating evolution in this scene.

but one thing i cannot understand is the
conception that darkpsy should be played at 145 - 150 and higher.

it's impossible to apprehend
all the interesting parts in the tracks
with a high bpm-rate and this applies to full on,too.
in this case the intention of the artist to his track get lost.

so what's your conception about this.. ?

Well I suppose this is highly individual, just as all perception is. I can't get get into trance to anything else but Hallucinogen if it is supposed to be below the bpm's you mentioned. I guess the music works differently on everyone as it is once again all about perception, and I can only share my view upon the subject. I love nightmusic who's fast and pounding, as it gets my body to move like a chicken with tabasco in it's butt. Meanwhile the fast and "hard" kick and bass gets my body going physically, all the other elements treat me mentally instead by manipulating my brain while dancing. So it's generally like two simultaneous processes that gets me going: the mental process and the physical process. If these are being stimulated well at the same time, at once I enter a some what of "trance" like state of mind. Also I think that a track whom you can percieve all details in at the first listening sessions ain't a particulary interesting track unless clubby remixes of 'Popcorn' gets you rolling...

If this weren't an answer of the kind you were looking for, sorry.

well, the intention why you make a high-speed track is a complete different one compared the intention to produce a medium-bpm or slow-bpm track.

its a complete different idea about the crowd-reaction on floor and about how the music is stimulating the mind and body.

I can't stand high BPMs either. There is no room to enjoy the elements in the track. Everything sounds rushed and squeezed into time snippets that grow tighter and tighter as the BPMs go higher. Its like the walls are closing in on you, and you are about to have a panic attack..and I don't find panic attacks as an appealing psychedelic experience. Besides that, 150+ starts sounding too much like hard house.
Listen to "One Way ltd" for example...its like a massive gray bulldozer that is slowly crashing everything in its path.

it don't have to be between 145-150+. xenomorph and ghreg on earth have really dark tracks lower than 145.
i agree with the fact that the music lost the meaning when it's too fast (like 155+ bpm). too much noises and less (dark) melodies. but this is personal.
the best thing in music lower than 145 is the intense atmosphere. the music can be MUCH more dark than any other with 145+.

ps.: check the Para Halu's track "In Nomine".           Obiit - Industrial Ambient

learned this lesson a long time ago:

dark and fast is merely hectic.
dark and slow is *massive*.

go and listen to the delta, it will kick your hectic 150bpm music to pieces at 130bpm.

Some people like fast music, some people like slow music
Some people like hard music, some people like soft music
how long will it take most people to figure this out(that everyone has different tastes, and no ones is inherently better than anyone elses) and stop making demented topics about who's music is holier/more psychedelic/more killarg?
I like faster BPMS, just as much as I like slower BPMS. I like anything from 75-155 bpm(obviously not just trance music). Who cares?          We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.

there's some dark music at slower BPM as well. lots of psy-tech and dark progressive music is between 138 and 142 bpm. Check out Sensient or Fuzzion for example.

And I know there are a lot of people who like to dance to faster harder music. It really is all about personal taste, more than anything.           ..it's just another party..
