in my eyes its to do a performence as a dj that means in my eyes to present music wich is exclusive and not 0815 and to do a mixing like a contest winner ...

like a phantom invisible mixes and unknown music .. thats a thing i like much ...

for a "good" and "happy" party vibe just play stuff everbody knows and likes and you will earn lot of smiles ...

anyway there are no rules for a performence or music style .. so be yourself guys and enjoy...

i think a dj set should sound like a set and not just like a bunch of tracks, that's what makes the difference.
the mixing skills should be very impessive and that what brings the smiles come           Bottom Line Presents

i want to make people enjoy unknown music, which they have never heared before...

It's easy to play some GMS tracks and make the crowd go wild... but i prefer to take a wicked track by deviant species, add a distorted sample on top, mix it with some ambient sounds, and then throw in some nasty minimal rythem&bass, and make the crowd dig like they've never dug before!           MiniMAL cabron...

well, im no dj, but i think a dj should be in touch with his crowd, and let the crowd's reactions dictate the way his/hers set matures and graduates.

Well, I think it should be some kind of a trade off between the DJs pre-defined concept and the crowd's reaction.

A DJ who plays only what he wants, even if he has a concept or theme, but loses the crowd, gives a bad set IMHO
A DJ who plays what the crowd wants, but adds no personal value, gives a bad set IMHO too.

It's amazing to hear and dance to a set where it's unclear who leads the act - is it the DJ leading the crowd, or is it the crowd leading the DJ? An amazing mind game, and a tremendous set IMO.

Well, first and foremost the Dj is there to appeal to the crowd. A set can be crowd pleasing without spinning just the no rules album...

Secondly i think a set should progress, it should be like one huge track, just taking you higher and higher and leaving you always wanting more. This should not be pre-programmed tho, spin off the energy of the crowd.

And lastly, the mixing skills, a live set is time to show off and plus good mixing always gets the crowd going. Too many tricks may annoy the crowd too, once again judgement should be based on crowds reactions.

Give the crowd what they want, and rock the party...

When Im putting a set together I usually start off with some light/minimal psy. I like to get em hypnotik. Eventually the minimal becomes more full on. I usually try to make a really spacey part in every mix which is where astral, and chi ad to name a few are handy tracks. Then I calm everything back down and let it progress again. It also varies on my mood, and also the tracks involved. I try to make a "trip" through different worlds if you will when im pilin a mix.           -=Keep it Spiritual=-

i'm lucky to live in a city where many sounds are untapped. there are many djs here but they tend to play mostly the same stuff - new popular material, or minimal stuff. that leaves a LOT for me to mess with - anything melodic, old school or new, epic stuff and light scandosounds, psybreaks and funky music, heavy industrial-influenced psy, aussie, finnish, japanese... just a lot, so thats a good thing. when i go to play out i'll show one facet of the vast and myriad psychedelic world... and almost never have to repeat the mood like i say, lucky to have such a wide open playing field...
