Compression on master out-put?

do any of you use compression on your master output when you bounce a track?
if you do, what compresser do you use?
im talking about logic here..

Never Ever
If your stuff should be released you'd like the mastering guy to do any compression of the mix.
Record a totally straight version, and the make a compressed master if you like as well.

yeah well i always keep a straight version of my music, but when i give some music to my friends or use it is my dj set, i want a good sound...

100 % corrrect .. but if u want to spin ur tracks @ the parties ... try using multiband compressor and then limiter on the final stereo file ... not during the mixdown ... |

As it was mentioned in another thread before, use the ultramaximizer plugins for a fast and easier way to make the track louder for friends...
For dj sets it might be enough as well.
Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

This have been discussed in a couple of threads before.
I think it's an important point though, since I have many times had to do with masters from quite established artists that was already compressed, and it really is annoying and a shame....so here we go again:
1. Always records the track down without anything on your master out. Preferrably 24bit...even if you work with 16bit (you should be working with 24bit audio only really...even on my 800mhz laptop with internal 3.5" hd the performance loss is negible)
2. Burn a CD for listening or playing on PA, make a mastered copy that you can use for that.
There is a couple of recent mastering threads discussing how to do that already.

yaps
my opinion is to leave one file unmastered @ all aside... for the "mastered" version - i think the best is - normalize - compress 2:1 rate to -1.5/9 tresh.. then normalize again and L3 is the hot stuff today...
