is compressor with ratio below 1:1 upward compressor or upward expander? Because in some softs/documents expander with ratio less than 1:1 is upward expander and over 1:1 is downward expander...

So is the word compressor tied to the meaning of working signals OVER the threshold or meaning of making signal less dynamic?

anyway if i'm right i repeat my question... when do you use an upward expander and a compressor?
also repeat my answer:
i use a compressor on everything except hats where i use an upward expander.

use it when its needed.

the one thing u should know is what is what then u decide.

personly i think if sound have more then 15db diffrence between peak and lowest its time to compress.even 10 db if it should be "front" sound.
expender can give extreme feeling for the bass, but works mostly on "live" line not tatatatata,however.. its up to u..           www.sattelbattle.com
