how is it going with copy right stuff if we just take samples out of famous cartoons? and what is about the mastering part? shall we send you already mastered ones? or do you wanna take care of, to get similar mastering for the whole Va? just curious...

There is plenty of time to submit demos for tracks. I am planning on doing a final release near the end of summer. A colleague of mine and I are brainstorming a plan to start our own darkpsy label at roughly that time in the year so as to make releases easier. So there is still a few months. As soon as the tracklist etc. comes together I will be announcing a more exact release date.
I just started compiling this, and ideally I am shooting for releasing this on a hard CD to be sold. In this case I plan to compensate all artists in either money or a stack of finished CDs or a combination thereof for their contributions by the time of the release. However depending on funds (coming from my own personal pocket) it may end up being a free digital release. However heavy promotion will be in the works and we are planning for a download count in the thousands range in the case of a free digital release. So please keep this plan in mind if you wish to contribute tracks.
At this point do not send pre-mastered tracks if possible. I will be arranging the mastering through a professional colleague. .mp3 demos are quite okay and upon selection I will be contacting the artists individually. So please send your internet contact info with the demo as it will make it a lot easier for me.
As far as copyrights. This is an issue I am researching which will also affect the course of hard CD to be sold vs. free digital. For now feel free to sample to your heart's content. A few of the selected tracks thus far have a few obvious samples which will of course affect the release. Again, plan this accordingly in your outlook on submitting your art regarding what I said above.
Given that issue it will be likely it will be free to avoid copywright issues. Not to mention a hard CD will be quickly pirated anyway. Not to mention personally I'm a believer in free music for all, but a hard CD with cool artwork on top of it also kicks ass also.

P.S. I was talking with a legal specialist and due to the bureaucracy of the copyright issues (due to the nature of this album's theme) this release will have to be free unless I want to pay a lot of royalties (which I don't, lol). Therefore keep that in mind, and keep the tracks coming, and once again thanks to all I have submitted. I have been personally sending thank you mails to all contributors but if I somehow missed you, feel free to write me again to bug about your demo.

I do have to say I am surprised and pleased with the responses so far. There are a lot of great artists out there and a variety of sounds to choose from.
To all who have submitted and plan to submit soon, please do me a favor... PLEASE send as your submission as completed as possible. There is still time to tweak, and it is too difficult keeping up with everyone's updated versions. So just make it the best you can and when you submit it, please consider it your final version for all intents and purposes.
