Already built music computers imo are for rich kids who just need to ask their parents for a cheque...

What they do is build a computer like you can do yourself, put it inside a fancy box, and charge sometimes over double the price for this...

You can even see the specifications of their computers and build an equal one for yourself...for half the price...

boomz

that's not entirely true, someone who doesn't knwo what he's doing when building a pc might choose the wrong chipset, or a different chipset then his graphics card, or worse, a motherboard with a databus that's too slow, or a harddisk that's way too slow... or machines that have known conflicts... All those things have huge influence on the performance... That's why there are a lot of people who have a pc that should be better then mine but gets outperformed by mine because i know what i'm doing... Ofcourse, if you know what youre doing you can build a pc that outperforms every pre-built pc from the same generation..

ofcourse, it is true that you can buy all the material they use yourself and build the same pc yourself, it will save you a lot of money...

Ok, so if you don´t know what you´re doing you can "pretend" you want to but a computer from them, ask the exact specification, and build one just the same

But you are right about one thing...the overprice does get you the garantee all things all compatible for audio etc..and its really anoying having to decide a configuration with 100001 possible combinations, theres always the chance something going wrong...

But anyway most of these music computers do look pretty nice but most are so overpriced its incredible! (specially knowing they´ll be worth half that value once the go out of the box.... )...

Also some off-the-shelf systems from some normal computer shops are pretty good at much more affordable prices...

I bought one propose built audio pc from www.inta-audio.co.uk and it is killer!!!
All the components were previosly tested, with all the tweaks in the operating system to make a Mean Machine!!!
They gave me a restore cd for every time that i format the pc i get the original (tweaked) settings!!I've got it for one year and still didn't have to format!!
If you going to assemble your own be carefull with some audio related hardware conflicts...
