yes.
a comp sould be only 1 style.
maybe an ambiant track at the end.
but must be one style.
otherwise most ppl will not enjoy "all" tracks.

I think 1 style is a little boring.
And btw, There is ppl that like more than 1 style           ..."Be yourself, let your conscience guide you...
Follow your heart, not the people around you"

for sure there are...
but the fact is that the MAJOROTY of ppl who like full on, dont like minimal.
and the MAJOROTY of ppl who like minimal, just cant stand full on.
and if u wanna sell the most copies then u got to stick 2 1 style.
but since this discussion is virtual then what the heck....

I have to aggree here with Wako.
Most people that like full on (including me)dont like at all minimal or proggressive tunes, and offcourse the opposite happens to people that like minimal.
Is there a style that all people like?
Is there something that will just sell?

Probably the answer lies somewhere between full on,minimal and experimental music.Something like Infected Mushroom for example, they dont make full on music, neither minimal but most people love them simply because they have their 'own' style

So should anyone adopt a unique style?           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

detox,
what do you mean by your last question ?
its not clear if you mean should an artist adopt a unique style or a record label....

i personally don't think that either should constrain themselves too much. though of course it seems to me understandable that a record label will want to put out compilation albums showcasing 'their' style of music...           >>love will tear us apart...<<

an artist should do just what he wants.
what he likes to do.
and thats his style.
after that we will hear him and know what style he makes.

Tom what i wanted to say is that the scene has the need for something new and refreshing and if the artists want to sell then they have to introduce us to something new that matches their taste of music but at the same time will be something original nd unique. And as i said before Infected Mushroom gave something new to the world and thats why they are so high respected even from people that they dont much like their kind of music but they respect their efforts for making something unique:)           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

imo u have to stay about one sound during all the compilation. get a bpm faster and trax more agressive/progressive but dont change styles. dont mix styles too much...
take the direction (night/morning, full on/minimal, club/house) and stuck on it..
ambient trax on compilations imo is not good idea also. i dont like..
thats not artist album that he try to show his music skills, that a trance compilation and its mean - dance music.
its logical to start with low bpm, then get it faster and then (in the end) get the tune softer for make "havayat ha-meshtamesh" sweety and friendly..

Doesn't really matter what style(s) the tracks would be, as long as they build a story.

yeah detox i agree with ya
its always good if there is a new 'sound' to a compilation.
also though i think zombie is right and its not such a great idea to chop and change styles in a compilation.. better to be consistent ...

but maybe not as consistent as wako           >>love will tear us apart...<<
