Recently I use Waves S1 Imager via Send to a recorded voice and I noticed that the stereo image opens much more than simply putting the plugin via insert.

Could that induce serious phase problems or something i missed ?

tip: If u put other effect like a ping pong delay before S1 Imager of Waves via send cause more dramatic pan effects, i like it.

do you mean mono voice recording?
if you put S1 to mono source, no matter it is insert/send, then S1 will not enhance stereo because it not work as pseudo-stereo effect.
maybe it is time shifting issue (difference between voice channel and send) but here on Cubase, whatever i do, i still have mono signal @output           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

something u missed as i clearly stated that inserting either a mono maker or an m/s eq with the side channel Hipassed at a reasonable frequency over 120hz will clean the lo end from any phase problems - if your mix is bizzy with lots of lo mid stereo fx information it will clean it dramaticly..when sound designing i use it near the end of a chain on one channel not master. u could but a set up always varies and changes to the adjustment of the source... not unlsess of corz u r mastering, but in this case im on about mixing tools...

look u can do what ever u like if you are correct about it..im no expert but where theres a will theres a way as they say,, i mean u could ping pong the shit out of ya bassline if u was correct about it, u would of corse Hipass the "Side" then u can have a stereo bass without the need for eq layering (one channel bass) the other mid for stereo and all the rest of it..

i mean dont get me wrong some people like that mono fixed bassline with no sense of it in a subtle space.. matter of taste i guess...all im sayin iz once u have full control over the stereo field with all of the tools u can do what the fuk u like to it with in careful reason without having to worry about the phase corrilation to much

I dont A/B my tracks to released tracks, but i follow my dBfs/dB monitoring meter all the time, it shows me how much i have room left if i'm confused. And from there i can recognize my previous tracks or other tracks levels or more important ceiling. But normally i just mastering by my ears and results can be quite different depending on the track.
In mixing stage i follow the loudness more carefully that nothing wont clip up to -4.

I also sometimes first keep wondering some nice released tracks and then next time trying to use same ideas on my productions, but if i'm making A/B at the mastering or mixing moment it just confusing my mind out of focusing that track which is under construction at the moment. So normally i just recall the new ideas from my mind or from some note paper i wrote..           - - - - -
