This is something that is a spin off from the BEST DJ VOTE thread.
Mad Factory was saying commercial music is like Michael Jackson, Madonna, etc....
well, yes this is true, but this is when you are talking about all genres of music.
When we are talking about only Psy trance, for me mainstream music would be GMS, Astrix, Talamasca etc... This is because you hear it mainly. You always hear Full on tracks at ANY party(except stargate,Mindgames). Thats why I call it mainstream. I mean the biggest organizations in Japan, are FULL ON. Im not saying its bad or anything, I listen to GMS and all the full on artists they make some good music. But there is no differences in the party flavor or vibes, if you play the same music just at a different place(unless its outdoor and indoor).

well hikari...yes thats it!but that not means its
commercial music!thats depence about the organization!
if you go to denmark you listen a lot minimal stuff of
course they have full on music 2!if you go to german
you listen a lot techno and progressive stuff!if you go to
brasil you listen a lot of full on stuff!of course we have
progressive and techno drum bass etc...but @ psyche trance scene,gms or talamasca or astrix,logic bomb
they are mainstream because they make good music!
not because they are commercial!thats what i mean!
when i in london 3 years a go,i hate gms,talamasca,
logic bomb,and specialy israeli music!but when i
move back to brasil,and been @ a lot outdoor partys
inside the florest with waterfulls or in the beach,with
35 to 38 degrees(fucking hot)then i understand why
i hate gms when i in london!but after been in brasil 1 year,dancing a lot in outdoors with indians,i feel the
diference of progressive stuff to full on stuff!progressive
music is good of course i like a lot...but is nothing spiritual inside the tracks some times yes good melodies etc...but most of progressive stuff sounds is for indoor
partys in my opnium!because most tracks are hard and
dark,or some times too much minimal!
but the artists still making full on music,in my opnium
they still make tracks with melodics sounds,or some
times goa style but new kick,bass,etc...but they still
keeping the spiritual sounds,i mean good killer sounds
to listen @ killer outdoor @ beach in 38 degrees!
thats what i think...but i like progressive and techno
stuff 2!just what i told before play the rigth track @
rigth time!not only because is a indoor party we have
to play music for clubs!i play a lot full on stuff because
all ways i play @ time i want,and also because for me
@ moment full on music,make me happy and give good
vibe for the people and me 2!the good progressive
music i hear is only about 2000,where is the guys???
yumade,paps,cop,they change to techno!
the iboga crew change to minimal and house trance!
of course some times we listen a good progressive
track!but for me is verry rare found a killer progressive
trance!for me @ moment only few artists still made a
killer psychedelic progressive trance...double dragon...
and shakta!still have more but are only few...like djs
a lot djs but only few playing good!same on the artists,
many people try made music,but only few can do!
but only what i mean is nothing on progressive or
full on!i just like to say this scene is not commercial!

i do not think the word COMMERCIAL is good to describe what the moderator is trying to say
the best word could be
SELL-OUT PSYTRANCE
as other genre music is called.
I agree the point what mad factory states and it is right. sometimes those SELL-OUTS dont have psychedelic sound at all
Russ stated his definition of Psychedelic but what we are saying could be defined that way of GOA.
GOA is based on psychedelic trance and that is why TIP is most popular label this scene
this is the FACT

Yes you are right mad factory, it is hard to find killer proggresive tunes lately. I know why people would go to look for other types of music.
But there are still a some good tracks lying out there you just have to find it.
I guess our definition of Commercial is a little different, I wouldnt call psytrance commercial at all but if you were to look for something mainstream inside of the genre of trance. I would say the 3d vision and TIP crew. As Psybaba said they are no. 1 and that means a lot of people listen to it, play it, therefore making it mainstream. Maybe the word Commercial isnt to good, I call it mainstream. |

gms are making their life out of music production only, most of others dont.
the difference is much cleared
and i think they have open mind to accept anyone from anywhere, that is good spirit but really risky as you know |
