I just read your insanely, interesting experience my good friend Psionic. 
HOLY DONKY POOPY!! What an adventure!! You had to go through all that shiaat, literally, to get somewhere beautiful. I find that sort of ironic. It's sort of like our struggles to get where we want to go in life.
So easy to bail out and give up. If you hadn't of persisted in finding your rasta guide, you would of never of found what you were looking for, and it could have been easy to do that.
I'm happy that you were able to keep going, and being able to see what you did, and then being able to recount it, and share it with everyone; And the best part is I'm sure it brings back a smile everytime you think of it.
btw i just got back from the mojave desert. what a beautiful twisted place. The heat was on!! The hot sun and the trippy, mindtwisting tunes mr. sensient provided for us had a pretty dingy, kooky affect on us. It felt good to be free and silly.
