um.. bass follows the same rules like any instument.
use the scale... if you are making a melody or a
pad sound with 3 notes, its obvious which bassnotes to use (at least for me).

for me its hard to create nice mellow-pads, if i could
create those easy, the bass wouldnt be the problem lol

its also a nice effect to not follow the harmonies
with the bass, it gives a hard badass feeling and
builds up alot tension. you can release it with simply
changing the bass.

Never mind .. (Not important at all) You can write/Compose other mello , But dont forget make it fat enough for the bass

(I made it today in 5 minute , Not more) .

wait, so you're saying, use a arpeggiated bass setting and simply copy any melodic pad to the bass channel and tada: instant bass melody? that's what i call lazy or even sloppy composition.
what about using counterpoint to fit your bass to the melodic pad? that'd be more insteresting and original.
